The Inner Tub Mounting is an OEM part for GE washing machines. It secures the inner tub to the washer's outer tub, providing stability and support during the wash and spin cycles. This mounting component is crucial for the proper alignment and operation of the washer's drum.

Causes of a bad mounting include excessive loads, continuous use over time, or physical damage due to impacts or misalignment. A faulty inner tub mounting can lead to significant operational issues and potential damage to other components.

Symptoms of a bad inner tub mounting include:

  • Excessive vibration or shaking during wash or spin cycles
  • Unusual noises or banging sounds
  • The inner tub appearing misaligned or loose
  • Leaks from the washer during operation

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Gary, This is a highly unlikely situation. I have seen in over twenty years of appliance repair, the vent hole on the transmission stopped up and when the transmission oil heated up it expanded the oil into the washtub. Most of the time when this complaint arises it is due to a build-up of fabric softener under the agitator. When the fabric softener is put into the dispenser, it is supposed to be diluted with an equal amount of hot water. This disolves the softener so it will not cling to surfaces and causing an issue. You see, fabric softener is made of 80 to 90% animal fat. The remaining content is coloring and perfumes to mask the softeners' decomposition. I'm sure at some point you have cooked bacon and had grease pop out onto the countertop. As you know, you cannot simply wipe it up. You have to use something to cut the grease to get it up. This is the same thing that happens with the fabric softener. It will build up under the agitator and it will actually change color as it ages. By the time it is yellow or brown, a chunck will break free and get into the wash. This, being animal fat based, will stain the clothes and look just like grease or oil.

I have a GE profile washer that has a stainless steel inner tub with what appeared to be an alluminum hub/base. It rotted away and disentegrated to the point the hub separated from the stainless steel tub. It is under warantee but I cannot find someone who will service it. So I am looking for a cheap fix. My model requires the entire assembly. I was wondering if this hub listed on your site might work with my washer rather than buying the entire stainless steel tub assembly. Thank you

JD, You will want to check to see if the unit is agitating with the agitator off. If the shaft is shifting then the agitator would be at fault. If not then you would be looking at a bad transmission.

Hello Et, The Hub assembly would not have a serviceable bearing. It would more than likely be the tub bearing WH2X1197 that is making the noise during spin cycle.

Heidelberg, The hub assembly will lift out with the basket WH45X10014 Then you'll need to flip the spin basket upside down and remove the mounting screws from the bottom of the spin basket to remove the hub. Thanks

Mike, Your post description, sounds pretty nasty. Do you have the spanner wrench for removing and installing the hub nut TB123B. If you can't drive it off you may want to ty a little heat from a propane torch, or cut it off with a "dremel" tool or chisel, but b very careful. Consider ordering the tub bearing, tub seal, washers, split ring hub and new nut. Thanks

I had a leak from the tub to the shaft on my washer. I plan to order the hub nut, the split ring tub bearing, the washer tub seal, and the tub bearing. The cone shaped area on the hub (AP2047612) is somewhat scored but I think it will make a good mechanical connection with the mating part. Since in another answer you said this joint does not need to be water tight, do you advise changing the hub? i.e. how often is hub replacement necessary and how bad does it have to be to need changing? Thanks.

Hi Chico. If the split ring right below the hub nut part # WH02X10265 is clean as it will "mate" with the lower side of the tub support, then all should be OK. You need to take a scotchbrite pad and scuff it up to get all the debris off of it. It is a good testimony that the washer used hot water and no Oxi- Clean that conquagulates the metals together all in one clump making it impossible for technicians to repair the unit. Thank You.
