Gary September 29, 2013 for Model Number wbsr3140dawn Grease or oil is getting into the wash water, I think from somewhere by the agitator?
1 Answer Hello Gary, This is a highly unlikely situation. I have seen in over twenty years of appliance repair, the vent hole on the transmission stopped up and when the transmission oil heated up it expanded the oil into the washtub. Most of the time when this complaint arises it is due to a build-up of fabric softener under the agitator. When the fabric softener is put into the dispenser, it is supposed to be diluted with an equal amount of hot water. This disolves the softener so it will not cling to surfaces and causing an issue. You see, fabric softener is made of 80 to 90% animal fat. The remaining content is coloring and perfumes to mask the softeners' decomposition. I'm sure at some point you have cooked bacon and had grease pop out onto the countertop. As you know, you cannot simply wipe it up. You have to use something to cut the grease to get it up. This is the same thing that happens with the fabric softener. It will build up under the agitator and it will actually change color as it ages. By the time it is yellow or brown, a chunck will break free and get into the wash. This, being animal fat based, will stain the clothes and look just like grease or oil. Read More...
Lou In Naples Fl. May 21, 2013 for Model Number WPRB8050D I have a GE profile washer that has a stainless steel inner tub with what appeared to be an alluminum hub/base. It rotted away and disentegrated to the point the hub separated from the stainless steel tub. It is under warantee but I cannot find someone who will service it. So I am looking for a cheap fix. My model requires the entire assembly. I was wondering if this hub listed on your site might work with my washer rather than buying the entire stainless steel tub assembly. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Lou. No, you must order the basket and hub assembyl WH45X10060 to repair the unit. Read More...
Jd March 26, 2013 for Model Number GE model #WVSR1060A1WW I have a 12 year old washer that does not agitate - all other functions work. I did some research and found the coupling air bell might be stripped. I got it out and checked, and it seems fine. The teeth were all there, and the agitator is not loose, as other posts described. What is the next part to check? The basket is hard to turn by hand - could it be the hub or the transmission? Thanks, JD
1 Answer JD, You will want to check to see if the unit is agitating with the agitator off. If the shaft is shifting then the agitator would be at fault. If not then you would be looking at a bad transmission. Read More...
David February 24, 2013 for Model Number WCSR4170D5WW The hub (inner tub base, part #WH45X10027) on my washing machine is completely rusted through. I can manually spin the tub, and the agitator coupler doesn't move. In other words, the agitator coupler is separated from the tub. My question is - can I just replace the hub, or should I be replacing other parts at the same time? Thanks
1 Answer Hello David, You will want to inspect other components but should be able to replace just the hub WH45X10027 on the unit. Read More...
Et November 04, 2012 for Model Number WPRE8100GOWT Does the Hub(inner tub base) part # WH45X10027, have a bearing inside of it that can be making a grinding noise in the spin cycle?
1 Answer Hello Et, The Hub assembly would not have a serviceable bearing. It would more than likely be the tub bearing WH2X1197 that is making the noise during spin cycle. Read More...
Heidelberg August 16, 2012 for Model Number VBSR3100B3WW Washer I have removed the hub nut, now how does the hub come off does it just lift out or screw out? thanks for the help
1 Answer Heidelberg, The hub assembly will lift out with the basket WH45X10014 Then you'll need to flip the spin basket upside down and remove the mounting screws from the bottom of the spin basket to remove the hub. Thanks Read More...
Mike July 28, 2012 the hub on my GE washer is damaged and needs to be replaced. The damage was so bad that I could actually just remove the spin basket. Now I need to remove the transmission nut. It won't come off. It seems to be stuck on. Any recommendations on removing this. Is it normal that it would be so hard to remove? Thanks.
1 Answer Mike, Your post description, sounds pretty nasty. Do you have the spanner wrench for removing and installing the hub nut TB123B. If you can't drive it off you may want to ty a little heat from a propane torch, or cut it off with a "dremel" tool or chisel, but b very careful. Consider ordering the tub bearing, tub seal, washers, split ring hub and new nut. Thanks Read More...

Ge Washer Question Guy May 28, 2012 for Model Number GE Profile Hey the motor not spinning an everything else working might be the need or a reset of the machine. Unplug for 1 minute. Plug in machine. Withing 30 seconds lift and close lid 6 times to reset motor drive board for agitator/spin cycle. The switch may be a problem but if it worked and there are no wiring problems the washing machine may need to be reset.
1 Answer Hello. If there is power coming to the drive motor, and the unit does not run, you will need to replace the drive motor. Make sure everything else on the washer is good on the unit before replacing the motor. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Chicodog January 18, 2012 for Model Number GE S4200B2WW I had a leak from the tub to the shaft on my washer. I plan to order the hub nut, the split ring tub bearing, the washer tub seal, and the tub bearing. The cone shaped area on the hub (AP2047612) is somewhat scored but I think it will make a good mechanical connection with the mating part. Since in another answer you said this joint does not need to be water tight, do you advise changing the hub? i.e. how often is hub replacement necessary and how bad does it have to be to need changing? Thanks.
1 Answer Hi Chico. If the split ring right below the hub nut part # WH02X10265 is clean as it will "mate" with the lower side of the tub support, then all should be OK. You need to take a scotchbrite pad and scuff it up to get all the debris off of it. It is a good testimony that the washer used hot water and no Oxi- Clean that conquagulates the metals together all in one clump making it impossible for technicians to repair the unit. Thank You.
