The Ice Door Assembly is an OEM part for GE refrigerators. It is integral to the ice dispenser system, controlling access to the ice chute. This component ensures the efficient delivery of ice cubes or crushed ice when activated and seals off the chute when not in use to maintain the freezer's temperature and prevent frost buildup.

Symptoms of a bad Ice Door Assembly include:

  • Frost or ice buildup around the dispenser area
  • Ice escaping from the dispenser when not in use
  • Failure to dispense ice
  • Noise during operation indicating misalignment or malfunction

Causes of a bad Ice Door Assembly can include mechanical wear from frequent use, failure of the spring mechanism or solenoid that operates the door, or damage to the sealing surfaces that leads to air leaks.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Patrick, To access the ice door assembly you will need to remove the control board on dispenser. To do this you will first check to see if there is a screw underneath holding it in place. If no screw then pull on the bottom of the control board and it will pop free. Behind the control board there are 4 screws that you have to remove. once removed then you can pull the ice dispenser assembly out and access door.

Tim for Model Number Psc23ngn

Once I looked at the picture of the front panel part on the web site I could see that it had two plastic posts at the bottom and a plastic rail at the top. Nothing holding it on the sides. I also saw a center bottom set screw. The two posts and set screw can be located from below. My refit set screw was missing. I then was able to lift up hard on the whole front panel to clear the two posts at the bottom and the bottom swung freely forward. Then the top was freed by pulling forward and a bit down. Then I could see the four corner screws to remove. After replacing the flapper, I installed in reverse order. If you just pry it forward you will brake the pins at the bottom of the platic rail at the top.
