Gus L. December 14, 2016 for Model Number JGB916SEK4SS what is the difference between this part WB13x25261 and WB13k0021. I replaced the broiler igniter which had gone bad. I replaced with WB13k0021. It works, however, I noticed now that on the original the plug was brown in color and the wires had an insulating sheath over them and the replacement did not. The GE site made it look as the oven uses the same igniter for the broiler and the oven but now I'm not so sure. I'm concerned about the lack of the Insulating sheaths. Your picture shows no insulating sheaths but it does have the brown plug. So are they interchangeable or not?
1 Answer Hello Gus, The only difference will be the connector. I never use the connectors but use ceramic wire nuts DE81-08428A for the connections which provide better, more reliable electrical connections. This also enables me to install the insulating sleeves from the old ignitor wires for better part longevity. Read More...
Repair Horse November 06, 2015 for Model Number JGB281SER3SS This gas range the broiler lights fine, the oven doesn't. The ignitor does not glow, replaced the ignitor and again the ignitor won't glow. Replace the gas valve still ignitor wont glow, control board is good. I have no 110 at ignitor plug. What do I check next?
1 Answer Repair horse, If you do not have power at the igniter then check the wiring between the igniter and the control board. If the wiring checks ok then the issue will be a bad control board. Read More...
John B. February 06, 2014 for Model Number jgbs23wel1ww My glowbar is staying on, is it defective or is this normal? never noticed it before
1 Answer John B. The oven glow bar will appear to be "partially" energized once the burner ignites. The heat and flame will cause the igniter to have a orange colored glow to it. The heated igniter, will allow the safety valve contact to remain open to release the gas to the burner. When the selected temperature is reached the burner will shut off and the glow bar will dim and the circuit will be "open" until the control calls for heat, again. Read More...
1 Answer Hello John. The igniter is supplied with 120 volts AC to work. It then opens the gas valve releasing the gas to the burner to light. Read More...
James S. September 24, 2012 for Model Number JGBP26WEA1WW The broiler does not light when turned on. I replaced the igniter with part #wb13k21. When I turned it on, the igniter glows but the broiler does does not light, but you can smell gas.
1 Answer Hello James, My sources indicate that the ignitor you installed is not a factory recommended replacement part for this model. The one specified for it is WB2X9154. If this doesn't correct the issue, I would replace the burner WB16K10008. The safety valve is working if you can smell the gas and hear a hiss. Read More...
