1 Answer Hello Et, This can be a clogged screen or hose, a bad pump assembly (AP3997575), or a failed drain solenoid (AP3994907). If a new garbage disposal has been recently installed, the installer could have forgotten to punch out the knock out plug in the disposer. The quickest way to determine if the drain solenoid is at fault is to remove the kick panel and manually move the lever by the black coil and see if this allows the water to drain. If so, the coil on the solenoid has failed. If not and no clogs are present, the pump assembly will most likely require replacement. Read More...
Ed D. June 16, 2013 for Model Number GHDA450L00WW Why does the dishwasher make a loud rumbling noise when running in any mode? This noise louder than when we first bought it. It works fine just makes the loud noise. I tried cleaning the dishwasher with name brand dishwasher cleaner fluid. Still makes the loud noise. Thank you. Ed
1 Answer Hello Ed, Most of the time when this style dishwasher works fine but makes a loud noise the issue isn't the unit at all, but the installation. A couple of things you might try to quieten the unit is placing a rubber floor mat under the unit and, if possible, putting the rubber floor mat under the feet to prevent vibrations from being transferred to the floor. The same material works well when placed between the unit and the cabinets, as long as you make sure they do not interfere with the door hinges and springs. If the unit is connected to a copper water line, the noise is also reduced by adding a flexible water line between the copper line and the water valve. Many times, simply leveling the unit will reduce the noise. Read More...

Bill September 29, 2012 for Model Number GHDA450L00WW It appears I am having problem with water pressure to the top arm as it won't spin. I changed the top arm with no luck. Is this impeller assembly essentially the pump to the motor?
1 Answer Hi. As well as replacing the pump impeller part # WD19X10038, you want to make sure the rear sump is clean. Remove the cover at the rear of the inner tub. Clean all debris normally fallen in this area. The top filter plate and the inner filter plate all need to be cleaned for proper pressure. Make sure the water manifold feeding the upper spray arm is not clogged. Make sure the middle wash arm feed tunnel is fully inserted into the back of the water manifold when pushed in. If there are any leaks there it will not reach the top spray arm. Thank You. Read More...
Steve September 10, 2012 for Model Number Pdw8980l00ss My dishwasher arms are continuously getting clogged with bits of food and then will not spin. Do I need to replace the impeller or is there a better fix for this.
1 Answer Hello Steve, Normally the spray arms would have to be replaced when they become clogged since they cannot be dis-assembled for cleaning. The perfect fix for this is to scrape off the excess food particles before placing the item in the dishwasher. Notice that I did not say to rinse the dishes, but to scrape off the excess. Excess is considered to be anything that is too large to pass through the spray arm holes. This will stop this issue in addition to being much easier on the motor and the chopper assembly. Brian May 27, 2012 for Model Number AP3883871 I am trying to get the brown impeller piece loose so I can remove the housing to replace the back seal on the housing. I have removed the SS chopper and all the rings. The brown impeller seems to be really stuck. Other than breaking it to get it off the shaft is there and easier way? A new one is in the kit I ordered.
1 Answer Brian, You do have the motor and impeller assembly separated from the sump, and you are holding the motor shaft with a wrench or pair of pliers and turning the impeller in a counterclockwise direction to unscrew it off the motor shaft " Hold motor shaft and remove the old impeller by turning counterclockwise and discard." If that doesn't work, then yes, you'll need to break or cut it off the shaft. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
Ken May 14, 2012 for Model Number gsd3300r15bb I have a GE dish washer and I need the motor. I see that you sell the motor/pump assembly complete. Can it be installed as it is right out of the box?
1 Answer Hello Ken, The motor and pump assembly is ready to install as it is when the box is opened. It is recommended after installation, to run the unit with the kick panel off to make sure no water leaks are present. Also, before beginning any repair on an electrical appliance, please discontinue the power supply to the unit to avoid personal injury or death and wear gloves to protect from all of the sharp edges present in the operating compartment of the unit. Brett February 21, 2012 for Model Number GLD4560N10SS/ removing part number AP3883871 assy I am trying to remove this part off the main motor shaft. I have removed the motor to replace it and need to romove this part. I have unscrewed the propeller off the shaft and then unscrewed the top piece. then there was 2 pieces that came off. I am down to the 2 last pieces on the shaft and I don't know how to get them off. I can't see the lower part because the housing of the propler is still on. I tried to pull on it but it is spring loaded. What do I need to do to get it off?
1 Answer Brett, You did dismount the motor/impeller assembly from the sump, it's a lot easier to work with and access the impeller assembly. Once you remove the chopper and the stainless steel ring(you have to turn it until the tabs line up and then you can remove it, and everything should slip off the motor shaft. Thanks. Read More...
