Patrick April 09, 2017 for Model Number JB970SB1SS The part number WB23M104 has been discontinued, so I purchased the replacement part WB21X5243. After opening the back, open the original part has seven wires connected to the part. The replacement part only has five connections. Did I get the wrong part?
1 Answer Hello Patrick, Infinite switch WB23M104 was designed to control the right front surface element. If you look closely, you will see this element is a dual element so it will require more wires to properly operate. The part you ordered is not correct ans will not work properly for this application. I'm sorry but this part has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no satisfactory substitutions have been provided. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...
Scott H December 09, 2016 for Model Number RB534GV3AD I had an infinite switch fail which caused the small rear burner to stay on. The original part number is WB21X226 which is replaced by WB21X5234. The burner now works fine but the indicator light stays lit? Both switches have terminals labeled P,P1,P2,H1,H2 and I transfered the wires one at a time. Any ideas what I might have done wrong?
1 Answer Scott, If you transferred the wires per the original switch then you will want to check to make sure there is not 120 vac to the P terminal on the switch. If there is then the issue will be a faulty switch. Check all switches because one could be bad. Read More...
Aldo August 07, 2016 I have a newer model GE smooth top. Large front burner seems to be slow or sluggish in cooking. I can, a lot of times, observe it cycling on and off while a pot is on it even though the contents is not yet hot or boiling. Bad switch? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Aldo. This is normal to cycle on and off. If the unit is not heating good, you will need to replace the element. It is common for it to take a little time to heat things on this burner. Read More...
Jim July 26, 2016 I just finished installing the new infinite surface unit switch GE WB21X5243. Installation went well. However, like "Jason", I need to use the "D" shaped adapter to accommodate the knob. Even with cutting back the shaft to a minimum, the knob sticks out at least 1/4" too far. Your answer was to use the shorter D adapter included in the kit. There is only the one D adapter, not two. Is there a shorter one available? Or another remedy? Jim
1 Answer Jim, The only thing that could be done would be to cut down the D shaft adapter so that it is not too long. Read More...
Xavier July 07, 2016 for Model Number Hotpoint RB636J2WH The two 6" burners only work on high. It is this a switch problem or a burner problem?
1 Answer Hello Xavier, You will need to order infinite switch WB21X36771 as the universal replacement for the original as per the manufacturer. Read More...
Pastro50 July 05, 2016 for Model Number jp370b9n1 The infinite switch for the 8" burner on this cooktop is bad. Is the AP2023620 a replacement for this switch? I read online that the terminals for the OEM switch were side mounted and not bottom mounted which might not leave enough room for assembly.
Peter April 09, 2016 for Model Number GE 27" drop in JMS07001AD Have been using an ancient 27" drop-in range at a rental house. Large burner (left front) would work on high and low but no intermediate range heat. Called GE repair . Tech came out, confirmed I had a bad switch, told me there were no replacement parts available and charged me $105. Surely this is BS. Is there not a compatible switch somewhere?
1 Answer Peter, The part number for the infinite switch that will work for your unit is WB21X36771. It is a universal switch but is what GE calls for on your unit. Read More...
Carol December 04, 2015 for Model Number JBP21GS1AD I'm replacing the infinite switch on a GE stove model JBP21GS1Ad. The replacement part WB21X5243 does not look the same as the old one. How do I know where to put the wires? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Carol. On the back of the switches, they are labeled. You will match up L1, L2, H1, H2, and P. Read More...
Steve October 11, 2015 for Model Number JBP24G S1AD Are these switches compatible with the old switches? I had a calrod element arch out and explode. Also frying the old switch. I replaced all the elements and I purchased the WB21x5243 switch and installed it. The burner worked fine and didn't think much of it until I tried to use another burner while the WB21x5243 was on at the same time. Instantly the old switch burnt out. Independently the old switches worked fine and worked with the other old switches. So I tried again with the new and old and again the old switch burnt out. Any ideas?
1 Answer Hello Steve. It sounds like the switch is wired wrong. You need to check and make sure L1, L2, H1, H2, and P are wired properly. Read More...
Jason October 09, 2015 Hi I have my replacement switch and had to use an adapter for the stem to fit the knob I have. It is a "D" shaped knob, so I used the corresponding adapter. Even with the entire stem cut back the knob sticks out about 1/4' too far. Is there a shorter "D" adapter available to fix this?
1 Answer Hello Jason. There should be a short and long one in the kit. Try using the short one. Read More...
