Ed November 24, 2013 for Model Number PDW9700JII How do you safely remove the inner door panel to replace the keypad? Is there any electrical installation instructions available?
1 Answer Hello Ed, Turn the breaker off to the unit and verify power is not present before beginning. Open the door and remove the screws from the inner perimeter of the door. This will release the inner door panel from the outer door panel. Remove the lowest screws last and support the door outer panel with something that will not scratch it since the outer door panel will drop when these last two screws are removed. You will now have to carefully lift and separate the two panels. Now remove the ribbon cable from the control and peel off the old keypad from the control panel. Use rubbing alcohol to remove and excess sticky left from the old keypad. Be cautious when installing the new keypad since the super sticky will grab when it touches even if it is in the wrong position. Stick the new keypad on and don't forget to plug it back in where the old one was unplugged. Re-install the outer door panel in the reverse order. Read More...
Treg September 16, 2013 for Model Number PDW9800L))BB Hi, we have had our General Electric dish washer for about 7 years. It has worked exceptionally well throughout those years. Last night I went to run it - and nothing happened when i pushed the buttons nor was anything lit up. I shut the door and then reopened it - and the display was lit as was a cycle and heat dry and the "clean" light - but still nothing happened when I pushed the buttons - including start. This morning we tried to reboot by shutting down the circuit breaker a couple times - the display reads 14hr clearly now - but still nothing happens when we push any buttons. Any thoughts on what may be happening and what part I can focus on potentially repairing? And can we fix this ourselves?? Thanks so much for any help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 Answer Hello Treg. If the lights work, but not the buttons, you will need to replace the keypad WD34X10908 on the unit. Read More...
Kenny F July 22, 2012 for Model Number PDW9880J00SS Hi, we have had our General Electric dish washer for about 8 years. It has worked exceptionally well throughout those years. Last week it just stopped working. The control panel buttons are lit up. When pushing any of the buttons to start the washing there is nothing. I unplugged the outlet, replugged in but nothing still. Any thoughts on what may be happening and what part I can focus on potentially repairing? Thanks so much for any help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1 Answer Hello Kenny. Make sure the door switches are good and if so, it sounds like the key pad WD34X10908 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...

Joe July 08, 2012 for Model Number pdw9880j00ss Hi. My touch screen never really worked well. The buttons never felt right. Some feel different then others. Every once in a while I had to reboot the dishwasher by turning off the power and turning it back on at the breaker. Now less lights are working on the key pad so I am not sure what cycle it is on. It always cleaned well until recently. Now the dishes are clean but there is a hazy film on everything including the inside of the machine. I do use jet dry. Does the keypad relate to this problem or do I have another problem ? Thank you!
1 Answer Hi Joe. You have 2- separate issues. The keypad is part # WD34X10908. You can remove the inner door panel and see if the keypad ribbon cable is correctly pushed into the control board part # WD12X10353. Are the digits not displaying ? It is part # WD21X10255. Use the supplied tech sheet in the toe kick or the control area to aid along with the volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist you in your diagnostics. You can remove the ribbon cable and use an eraser on the end to clean it and re-insert it into the control board. As far as the film depends on the, 1. Water temperature incoming from the sink (while loading the dishes) should be at least 120-125°. If not raise it on the water heater (poss. bad heater element?). It has to be this temp. to have the proper chemical reaction to get the dishes clean. Are the wash arm jets clogged and needing cleaned with a pick tool under the sink? Is the top sump/ filter clogged? Remove racks and remove the top of the inner sump cover. Clean all as you go. Make sure the chopper blade part # WD19X10032 is not damaged to macerate the food/ debris. Remove the back intake cover and see if there are any clogs there as well. Use dishwasher cleaner part # TJ104 monthly to keep up proper performance. Thank You. Read More...
