As soon as you turn it loose, it goes off. Otherwise works fine. Do I need the knob and clip, or di I need an inner part for this to be repaired and which part number would it be? Thanks much.

Darren November 07, 2014 for Model Number WWSR3090T6WW Timer knob on GE washing machine spins both clockwise and counterclockwise instead of latching on. Is this a knob or timer issue?
1 Answer Hello Darren, You will need to take a paperclip or similar item and put a 90° bend in the end so it can hook on the spring clip shown in the illustration as number 9, WH1X2117. This piece simply pulls out and the knob will slip off of the shaft. At this point you should be able to determine which is the issue since the meshing teeth will be exposed. If the teeth on the knob WH1X2754 are good the issue will be in the timer assembly WH12X1021. Read More...

Sandy April 21, 2014 for Model Number GTDL200GM0WW Dryer I bumped the start button and it just fell off. The part that it hooks onto must have fallen into the machine itself. Do I need another knob too or just get the part that it hooks to? I don't mind getting the kit. Is this something I can do myself? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Sandy, If the shaft that the knob slides onto is what came off, the switch WE4M412 itself will have to be replaced. This is not a difficult repair and as long as you remember to unplug the unit before beginning, you will have no problem replacing it. Remove the screws for the control panel from the rear and access the switch. Be sure to transfer the wires one at a time to prevent confusion in re-assembly. To remove the switch, lift the locking lever and rotate the switch. This will allow it to turn around and be removed. Installation of the new part is the same procedure reversed. Read More...
