The Light Bulb is an OEM part for GE microwaves. This bulb illuminates the interior of the microwave during operation, enhancing visibility so you can monitor the cooking process without opening the door. It is designed to withstand the high temperatures and vibrations typically found in microwave ovens.

Over time, the light bulb can burn out or become damaged due to the harsh environment of the microwave. Frequent on and off cycles can also shorten the lifespan of the bulb. Replacing a non-functioning or dim bulb will restore visibility and improve the functionality of your microwave.

Symptoms of a bad light bulb include:

  • Dim lighting inside the microwave.
  •  Flickering or inconsistent performance.
  • Complete lack of light when the microwave is operating.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Ge Light Bulb (Part Number: OEM6090000)

John, there are one of two possibilities that may have occurred. The first possibility would be that the main control WB27X10132 lamp relay may have been damaged and would need to be replaced. This can be tested by testing for 120VAC going to the lamps when the lamp button is activated. If there is not 120VAC going to the lights, then the main control would need to be tested for outgoing voltage. If there is not voltage, then the main control has failed. If there is 120VAC, then the 2nd possibility has occurred and there is a broken wire. The broken wire would need to be traced to find where it has failed, and then repaired as necessary. Unfortunately, if the main control has failed, it has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available.

Hello Barry, This is most likely an issue with the control board. The power should be disconnected from the unit before replacing the bulbs and any other service. I'm sorry but we will need to ask you to please post a new question including the verified model number from the units' I.D. tag since the one provided will not come up for us as a valid model number. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter.

Tom, You will want to check to see if the power supply getting to the bulbs are ok as this will be the most likely cause for the bulbs to burn out frequently.
