The Light Bulb is an OEM part for GE microwaves. This bulb illuminates the interior of the microwave during operation, enhancing visibility so you can monitor the cooking process without opening the door. It is designed to withstand the high temperatures and vibrations typically found in microwave ovens.

Over time, the light bulb can burn out or become damaged due to the harsh environment of the microwave. Frequent on and off cycles can also shorten the lifespan of the bulb. Replacing a non-functioning or dim bulb will restore visibility and improve the functionality of your microwave.

Symptoms of a bad light bulb include:

  • Dim lighting inside the microwave.
  •  Flickering or inconsistent performance.
  • Complete lack of light when the microwave is operating.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Dave, we would be able to only supply the original light bulb. If want to change to a different type of bulb suggest you take the original bulb to a local hardware or home improvement store and see if it is available there.

Dean, Make sure you remove power to the microwave before you do anything, A small pair of needle-nosed pliers will come in handy. First, try and insert the pliers into the remaining light socket base, spread the handles and turn the pliers counterclockwise. If the base won't turn, grasp the edge of the socket base with the pliers and turn the base counterclockwise, until you can get enough of the base out enough to turn it by hand. You may want to apply a thin coat of dielectric grease to the threaded portion of the lightbulb base. this will help to keep the bulb from seizing to the socket, then restore power and check the microwave for operation. Thanks,

Bonnie, Use a small flat blade screwdriver(pocket screwdriver) carefully insert the blade between the body and the panel being held by the screw, slightly twist the screwdriver, to produce pressure on the panel, and unscrew the screw at the same time. Once you get the screw far enough out to unscrew with your fingers. You'll need to take the screw to the local hardware store or home improvement center, and have them get you the same screw, the next size larger. Once the bulb is replaced reinstall the panel and new screw, just don't overtighten the screw.
