Renee December 09, 2012 for Model Number JGBS15GER7WH I have a GE XL44 (gas). My stove burners work just fine but my oven won't start and neither will my broiler. I don't use the broiler at all so my only concern is what could be the problem? When I start the oven there is no sound at all.
1 Answer Renee, You're on track, If the glow bar igniter WB2X9154 is cracked or broken, The burner will not release and ignite the gas. You'll need to remove the racks, and oven bottom panel, remove the flame spreader on the top of the burner and see if you can find the cracked or broken spot in the igniter. You can then program a bake cycle and temperature, if the igniter does not start to glow in 30 seconds, a bad igniter is a very good educated guess and replacing it will probably solve your issue. Frank D November 24, 2012 for Model Number JGSP21GER2WH Oven burner will light, then go out after igniter turns off (10 sec). Oven will not light below a temperature setting of 250 deg/f. Relays in control board only actuate at 250 or higher. Igniter for the broiler is visibly broken, and broiler will not light. I cannot determine if this unit has a broiler assist feature. Would one broken igniter (broiler) cause the Oven burner to extinguish?
1 Answer Hello Frank, This unit is a independent operation and does not use the broiler to assist in the operation of the oven operation on bake. You would want to replace the broil ignigtor WB2X9154 due to being broken. For the unit only actuating at 250 degrees you may want to check your oven sensor. Oven sensor WB21X5301 should ohm out at 1100 ohms at room temp. Also check your amp draw to the oven ignitor. Amp draw should be 2.7 to 3.5 amps. Low amp draw would be a bad ignitor. Read More...
Pete November 24, 2012 for Model Number jgbp86web2ww I feel stupid asking this as it seems like an easy fix but when I go to remove the oven ignitor, the two screws attaching the ignitor to the gas tube are imposible to remove. There not on top but on the bottom and also they are slightly angled downwards so you can't get a screwdriver on them. Do you have to remove the whole tube assembly to get at the screws?
1 Answer Hello Pete, yes you would be much better off to remove the burner assembly and them change out the ignitor. I believe there is only one screw holding the burner assembly in and then you just remove it from the orifice at the other end. It's much easier to work with when it's out. Be careful with the new ignitor as the filament is very fragile. You don't want to bump the assembly on anything and break the filament. Hope this helps! Read More...
Paul Romer November 24, 2012 for Model Number 61EA-3KX We have an old Magic Chef gas dryer model number 61EA-3KX which needs a oven ignitor. We can't find anything on the model number. Is there a replacement part available?
1 Answer Hello Paul, I show the model to be a Magic Chef slide in gas range instead of a dryer. The model won't come up in the system because it is over 25 years old. You can order ignitor kit 12400035 for this slide in gas range. If you need a dryer part, please provide a model number and I will be glad to help you with that as well. Thanks! Read More...
1 Answer Hello Joe. Based on the model number provided, WP3186491 is the correct oven igniter for the unit. Read More...
Chris November 20, 2012 for Model Number LGB356WEA1WW The bake and the broil option does not work in the oven. I replaced the bake ignitor and now the bake ignitor will come on glowing orange but no gas will come out. The broil igniter still will not come on. Does both ignitors have to be functioning in order for gas to flow? Do I need to replace the broil ignitor as well? Before I replaced the bake ignitor neither ignitors would glow orange.
1 Answer Hello Chris. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. 1 Answer Hello Dahlia. Test for power coming from th econtrol to the element. If none is there, you will need to replace the control on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. David D November 19, 2012 for Model Number GE XL44 If the oven igniter is the problem, will that stop the gas from coming out?
1 Answer Hello David. Yes, that will cause the unit not to draw enough amps and open the gas valve preventing the gas from coming out. Read More...
