Ken February 19, 2013 for Model Number GE- JGBP29SEJ1SS Does your igniter wires have the stycon on one end and twist clip on other end or do both have to be wirenut together.
Kevin February 16, 2013 for Model Number JGBP35BEA5BB The oven is not working for my GE Spectra suddenly. It's approximately 8 - 9 years old. The broiler works fine (glows read and lights) and the stove top burners work okay too. The oven wont light or allow gas to flow suddenly. What do I need to replace?
1 Answer Hello Kevin, You will want to do an amp draw on the oven ignitor. The amp draw should be between 3.2 and 3.6 amps. You will also want to check the oven safety valve to make sure that it is good. You should do a resistance check on the safety valve and should have approximately 216 ohms resistance. Read More...
Sanjeev M February 11, 2013 I changed ignitor on the oven....when turned on to test the ignitor sparked and tripped the breaker....was this because the ignitor was bad or did I wire it wrong?
1 Answer Hello Sanjeev, This issue would sound like the unit is either wired incorrectly or wire is exposed and touch metal when sparking. Read More...

Victoria January 23, 2013 for Model Number XL44 RGB7745 My oven takes and igniter, Part #WB2X9154. I had one from Sept 2004 which I installed in Oct 2012 and has burned out ALREADY. Usually they're in service about 18-24 months. Does this part have an avg shelf life unused? Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Victoria. No, there is no shelf life on these. There may have been some damage to the igniter when it was installed that caused it to fail. Read More...
Victoria January 23, 2013 for Model Number XL44 RGB7745 Once again my oven igniter has died and I need to install one. Are there any special tools that would make it easier to remove the screws securing the bar that delivers gas to the oven? The screws are at a slight angle making a nightmare of a really simple task. If you could recommend any tools I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Victoria. There really is no special tools to make the job easier. You ca use a socket and bit to remove them and make it easier, but it is still going to be hard due to the angle of the screws. Read More...
Moe January 17, 2013 for Model Number JGBP35BEA1BB The new igniter I ordered came with bare ended wires and wire nuts. The old igniter has 2 different kind of female ends that plug into the stove. Can I cut about 3" of wire with the female ends from the old igniter and wire nut and tape them to the ends of the new igniter and then just connect the ends the same way? would that be safe? if not then what?
1 Answer Hello Moe. Sure it is fine to do that type of install. Just be sure and use the ceramic wire nuts with the install. Read More...
Liz December 29, 2012 for Model Number JGBP35WEV4WW Hi, I found you on YouTube re: GE XL Gas Oven not lighting and how to fix. Great info! My oven is not heating. The broiler works, though, with a yellow glowing round cylinder-shaped igniter to it. Will this igniter for the broiler going to die soon, as the oven already has? Does the part Oven or Broiler Igniter Round work for either the oven or the broiler? Do I need a different part for the Oven to heat? Thank you very much for your help. You have a terrific site and helped already in locating where I'd find the Model/Serial numbers.
1 Answer Hello Liz, The bake burner is troubleshot the same way as the broil burner is. The only difference is where it is mounted. This model uses the same ignitor for the broil burner as it does for the bake. The possibilities are the ignitor, the safety valve and the burner. The most common failure on the gas units is the ignitor. This can be checked with a clamp on amp meter TJCL1100. It has to pull 2.8 to 3.2 amps to open the gas valve. This is a bit less resistance than the flat ignitors, so a bit less current will be drawn. If it doesn't pull enough amperage, the ignitor WB2X9154 has failed. If it pulls enough amperage and still doesn't ignite, the safety valve WB19K14 has failed. If the valve opens and you can hear the gas coming in but it doesn't light, the burner WB16K22 is at fault. Lisa B December 15, 2012 for Model Number JGBP30BEW1AD Ordered the oven/broiler igniter from you WB2X9154. Replaced old igniter with the new one. When I turned the oven on and the oven lit it made a loud "boom" and blew the oven door open, then it closed again. What could be causing this? I didn't really run the oven long enough to find out if it was heating properly.
1 Answer Hello Lisa. It sounds like the igniter is not close enough to the burner to ignite the gas fast enough. Or the valve is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. I would make sure the igniter is right by the burner first and the bracket is not bent. Read More...
