Questions & Answers

For Ge Gas Range Oven Igniter (Part Number: OEM6042033)

Hi Charles. We are having a hard time in getting your model # to pull up. It should be located on a tag under the top that lifts up. We can come very close but we need the exact # to assist you. The safety valve needs correct power consumption (amp draw) so the valve will emit gas flow. The Ignitor is part # WB2X9154. Thank you.

Charles, No, there is not pilot to light, everything is electronic and automatic. As we noted previously you hsve an incorrect model number so we cannot verify the proper part number you supplied. Thanks and Good Luck again.

Theresa, The model number you supplied is incorrect, so we could not verify the correct part number, but you're on the right track. When the igniter is glowing, it is also creating a 3.2 to 3.6 amp draw or 3.2 to 3.6 VAC to the oven burner valve. The igniter, if it's weak will glow, but not produce the voltage or amperage draw, and the gas valve will not open and release the gas. 95% of ignition problems are due to a weak or broken igniter. Thanks and Good Luck.

Matthew, Great deduction, and a great place to start. 95% of ignition and temperature problems on a gas range are due to a weak or broken igniter. You'll be fine once you replace it, I'm sure. Thanks and Good Luck.

Hi Brian. It really sounds like you have 2 seperate issues. The oven bake ignitor should read cold resistence of 85-500 ohms. If it does not draw exactly enough current, then the gas valve will not open. This is the most common part to go out. It is part # WB2X9154. The dual safty valve is part # WB19K14. Have you had any gas appliance worked on lately or anything changed with your gas supply that might effect proper performance? Thank you.

Hello Joe. Check and see if the igniter in the oven is glowing. If so, then you will need to test at the safety valve WB19K13 and see if there is 3.0-3.4 volts AC there with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is low, you will need to replace the igniter WB2X9154. If the voltage is good, you will need to replace the safety valve. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps.http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
