Paul December 26, 2013 for Model Number Hotpoint 4.8 cu. ft. Gas Range in White Model # RGB530DETWW Put oven temp to 350 and baked a ham. I noticed the ham smelled like it was burning after about an hour and a half and I went to look at it. I have a oven temp gauge that hangs on the rack inside the oven and I noticed it read 575 plus degrees. I though wow that is way too hot. I looked at the oven knob and it was set at 350 but the oven was so much hotter than that. I took the ham out and turned off the oven but it would not turn off. I turned the know on again then back off but the oven would never turn off. It just stayed on even wit the knob turned to the off position for over 10 minutes. I finally had to go outside and turn off my gas main at the meeter to get it to turn off and called the gas company to come out. The guy from the gas company unplugged the oven from the wall and went outside to turn back on the gas. He plugged back in to oven and the orange glow from the oven came right back on. The guy from the gas company was shocked about the igniter glowing orange even though he unplugged the oven a while before. He then unplugged the oven again from the wall and waited a few minutes and the oven igniter was off. He turned on the oven and it came on normal and he turned it back off and it and it did turn off normal but I now do not trust this oven. What parts do you think should be looked at. The thermostat and the igniter, or only one both? Any help would be nice. Thanks!!
1 Answer Hello Paul. Based on the information you provided, the thermostat WB20K8 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Scott December 15, 2013 for Model Number rgb745bea3ct When the oven is on it keeps going back to preheat mode when cooking. I shut it off and have to turn it back on to set it back to bake, but it again after a few minutes will go back to preheat
1 Answer Scott, This issue would be caused by a faulty oven thermostat WB20K8 which would need to be replaced. Read More...
Kim November 21, 2013 for Model Number JGBS21HED2WW About a week ago, my oven knob started to get wobbly and loose. The other day, it got bumped and feel off and the white thing that holds it in place went inside of my oven. Any idea what my problem is and what part I would need to get for my husband to fix it?
1 Answer Hello Kim, This sounds like the knob WB03K10034 is the issue. If the valve stem is broken off you will have to raise the cooktop and make sure the gas and power is off to the unit while you change the surface burner gas valve. Read More...
Pete October 30, 2013 for Model Number JTP86B0F1BB The inside label says what I listed as the model number. A technicial said it was a JKP86. I think I need an oven thermostat. I've tried adjusting the panel but something is wrong with the temperature. What part number is is? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Pete. WB23T10015 is the temp sensor for the oven model number you provided. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Matt October 21, 2013 for Model Number rgb745wea3ww When I set the oven to 350°F, it beeps about 3 minutes later and the preheat light is still on and it is only reaching about 300 degrees inside, what to do? Thermostat bad? Also, the boiler doesn't work would that be an ignitor?
1 Answer Hello Matt, Since the unit normally cycles back and forth from the bake to the broil, I would say the whole issue is with the broil burner not operating correctly. The issue is most likely the ignitor WB2X9154. Read More...
Stephen P June 05, 2013 for Model Number JGBS22BEH1WH My GE gas stove oven turned itself on to over 600 degrees and stayed there. I couldn't lower the temperature with the oven control knob. I had to flip the ckt bker in the bsmt service box to shut it off. I raised the stove top and removed the oven control module from the front of the stove. I just completed ordering a replacement part from Appliance Parts Pros. the thing is-the replacement part has a THERMOSTAT COIL AND TUBING attached to the switch (the original did not). I need DIRECTIONS to route this tube/coil to its proper location. I presume the tubing gets inserted into the oven but how and where? do i need to drill a hole? The original part number was WB20K10008. The repacement part number is WB20K8.
1 Answer Steven, The Oven thermostat assembly is located in the controls of the unit where the gas valves are for the top burners. When you look inside the oven you will see the sensor and the tube will follow back to the thermostat at the manifold. Unfortunately we do not have specific instructions. Read More...
Parker S June 04, 2013 for Model Number JGBS22BEH1WH My oven turned on by itself in the middle of the night. Got very hot- thermometer pegged at max-600 degrees. Oven control had not been activated. Had to flip off electrical circuit breaker in branch circuit box to turn oven off.
1 Answer Parker, This issue would be caused by a faulty Oven thermostat. You will want to double check all wiring to make sure that there are no wires that are broken. Read More...
Joe May 05, 2013 for Model Number jgbs23ceh1cc Oven comes on when knob is shut off. Is the oven thermostat assemble # wb20k8 defective?
1 Answer Joe, If the unit is coming on with the knob in the off position and the knob is not broken then the thermostat WB20K8 is defective and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Chuck April 19, 2013 for Model Number Kenmore Gas range Mod.# 362.75271691 If you set the oven @ 300 it will run at about 350 sometimes. It runs consistantly about 50 degrees off. I have adjusted the knob but that doesn't help. I thought it may be the thermostat but I don't want to replace unless it could be something else. Any suggestions.
1 Answer Hello Chuck, If you cannot adjust the 50° discrepancy out with the knob, the only way to calibrate this model is to order a new thermostat WB20K8. As a note, if you have recalibrated the knob, it will have to be done again if the thermostat is changed. Read More...
Drew April 13, 2013 My GE Gas oven quit working today. First the ignitor would glow but would the gas would not flow. The only way to get the gas flowing in the burner was to ignite a top burner. Now nothing happens. Is this a problem with the ignitor, safety valve, or thermostat?
1 Answer Drew, It sounds like it could be a bad igniter but you will want to test the system to make sure of the correct part failure. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
