For Ge Dispenser Board (Part Number: OEM21680601)

Danl for Model Number GFE28GELKDS

I have a GE GE® ENERGY STAR® 27.7 Cu. Ft. French-Door Refrigerator GFE28GELKDS. The ice dispenser does not dispense ice because the auger motor does not turn on. On the dispenser door, the lights work as well as dispensing water continue to function. In addition, I can hear and see the ice duct door open and close. I have ordered both the Dispenser Board (Order #16174375) and auger motor (Order #16153819). Neither one helped the issue. I am unable to determine why the ice auger does not function. Can you advise me what could be the issue? I have purchased multiple items from your company over the years but this is the first time that I have had issues with DIY report. I welcome your feedback as I am unable to determine why the auger motor does not engage.

Dani, Check to make sure that the ice is not clumped in the bin and keeping the auger from turning. If this is not the case then the door on the top control board will be the most likely cause and is part number WR55X44126.

Cadlyn, Check the wiring at the top of left door and make sure that there is no loose connection. If this is ok then the dispenser control board would most likely be the issue.

Bob, If the auger motor is not turning then you will want to check to make sure that there is 120 Vac getting to it. If there is not then check the switch for the dispenser and check to see if the control board is sending 120 vac from it to the auger motor.

Johnny, The LED lights in this refrigerator will be controlled by the main control board and would need to replace the main control board for this unit.

Guillermo, with the power supply cord unplugged, the dispenser paddle WR17X13060 would need to be tested for continuity from the yellow wire to the blue wire when pressed. If there is not continuity, the paddle has failed and it would need to be replaced. If there is continuity, the most likely failure would be the refrigerator door board WR55X44126 located at the top of the left refrigerator door.

Shelley for Model Number DFE28JSHCSS

The water dispenser was running slow and the top ice maker was making ice as well as the bottom ice maker. Now, no ice being made in the top ice maker, no water dispensing, BUT ice is being made in the bottom ice maker. Replaced water inlet valve. Still not working. Suspect possible Valve IM Water ASM is bad OR PCB ASM Led Icon Ui??? When I took the panel off the front of the fridge just to look at what kind of circuit board is there, the display then showed what looked like an "upside-down capital F and right side up C. Any thoughts??

1 Answer

Shelley, the first item worth checking is the water filter RPWFE. If the filter is older, it can cause the issues described as it would get clogged up. If the filter is newer, the water reservoir WR17X13247 would need to be inspected for a frozen tank as well as testing the dual water valve WR57X10098 in the door for 120VAC when the door switch is taped shut and the water dispenser is activated. If the filter is good and the tank is not frozen and the valve does get 120VAC, then the valve has failed if it does not allow water to pass through.
