Scoped May 08, 2014 for Model Number WPGT9360E0PL Hello, I have a GE Harmony washer and it will not drain, gives me the test pump error on my screen. I am able to push on the electrical harness at the pump terminal and it kicks on or just rock it back slightly and it turns on. Is this from a blockage or is my pump on its last leg? Thanks in advance for the help.
1 Answer Scoped, You should check the harness connections at the pump to make sure that there is no corrosion on the terminals. If there is then you would want to clean with an electrical contact cleaner and retry. If this continues to happen then the pump would be the issue. Read More...
Frank R. March 22, 2014 for Model Number wpgt9350 Hi My washer stopped pumping out the water. I figure it is the pump and took the back out to check. I removed the to hoses leading into the pump and found nothing blocking the impeller on the pump. Putting the unit into spin mode, I could see the the impeller moving slowly and touching the edge would easily stop it, and it felt like the motor had no torque which would lead me to believe it is the pump? Could there be a clog anywhere else? It is not clear to me if there is some valve that open a drain from the tub to the pump when extracting water?
1 Answer Frank, No there is no valve or device to activate in order to drain the washer. The drain pump WH23X10020 creates just enough pressure to force the water up and out of the washer and into the drain pipe. Your post description would indicate that the drain pump motor or impeller has failed and is not creating the pressure needed to drain the tub. You may want to recheck the tub to pump hose, where it attaches to the drain opening in the outer tub, there maybe a small, light article stuck there, but it's a guess. Read More...
Eddie July 15, 2013 for Model Number Washer Ge Harmony WPGT9360E0WW, drain pump WH23X10020 My washer drains sometimes and sometimes it does not. When it doesn't is happens later in the rinse cycle. The pump is triggered but only makes a humming noise. If I drop the drain hose down to my mob bucket (18-20") it will drain out, but not at full flow rate. The pump motor turns off and the slow flow stops if I open the washer lid, so the pump is moving some water. I can use the washer a day later and it will work fine through the entire cycle. I suspect the pump motor in on the verge of going out but I do not know if this working/not working phenomena is attributable to the pump or a control issue. I pulled a cloth through the input/output of the pump and nothing appears to be stuck in there (along with checking the hoses). The plastic rotating piece also seems to move ok. The pump motor is warm during the ‘non-working’ condition but not overly hot. What do you think?
Tena December 02, 2012 I have looked at diagrams, but am still not able to locate model/serial number tag anywhere. This is a GE front loading washer which will not drain.
1 Answer Hello Tena, Unplug the machine from the wall outlet. Open the unit and locate the drain pump. If the door will open, it isn't a bad idea to get all of the water out that you can from inside the tub because when you remove the hose from the drain pump, water from inside the machine will run out. The pump will most likely be restricted by lint and pocket debris. Make sure it's clear and reach into the pump with a screwdriver or other long skinny object and make sure the impeller isn't broken or detached from the motor shaft. If you can find no problem, plug the machine back in and set the control to drain and spin with the leads of you test meter in the wires that were connected to the drain pump. There should be 120Vac there. If so, order a drain pump. If no voltage, check the connections from the main control. If no bad connections are located, order the main control board. Now the issue you are going to run into is that the parts are located by looking them up by model number. You will have to locate the model number to get the correct parts. Read More...
Kuthiala May 05, 2012 for Model Number WPGT 9350C My washer does wash but it does not spin & dry out clothes automatically. I can go to special cycles and set dpin & dry cycle for 19 minutes. It does spin but then it does not totally dry the clothes to go in to dryer?
1 Answer Hi Kuthiala. Since you say the spin works in the 19 minute cycle but still does not get the water out then we will address it from here. You need to either reach in from the bottom or into the back cover to remove and check the pump impeller. Is it clogged ? Is the impeller broken loose and spinning freely on the shaft ? If so it is part # WH23X10020. Is the drain hose clear ? Is the sump hose (where the tub to the pump connects too), is it clogged with coins or small clothes ? Remove the top tub cover by uncapping it. Look with a flashlight in between the inner and outer tub to see if there are any balled up clothes slowing the spin speed down. Thank You. Read More...
Jillian March 06, 2012 for Model Number WPGT9350C0WW I have the ge profile harmony washing machine... my question is how long does the pump normally last? and i'm pretty sure but i'll just ask, if my washing machine isn't draining, then I get an error saying test pump may have blockage, and the test does nothing at all, that would be the pump right? Thank you,
1 Answer Hello Jillian. Sorry, but there is no way of putting a date on a mechanical part as far as lasting. However, you need to test and make sure there is power coming to the pump during the drain cycle. If so, and the pump does not run, you will need to replace the pump assembly WH23X10020. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter.
