The Lower Door Gasket is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. This gasket is for creating a tight seal around the dishwasher door to prevent water from leaking out during cycles.

Symptoms of a bad Lower Door Gasket include:

  • Visible cracks or wear on the gasket.
  • Water leakage around the dishwasher door.
  • Frequent puddles forming under the door during operation.
  • Dampness along the edges of the door after a wash cycle.

Causes of a bad door gasket can include regular wear and tear from use, improper door alignment, excessive cleaning chemicals that degrade the material, or thermal damage from high-temperature cycles.

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Hello Darlene. The model number will have to be verified on the units I.D. tag since the one listed came up invalid. This will be necessary to look up and specific parts such as the one you requested. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. We will need your model number to help you with this. Please call 1-877-477-7278 or post your model number with a new question on the parts page. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/modelnumber_locator.aspx

Jennifer for Model Number GLD4900P00WW

I looked up the bottom door gasket and watched the very helpful video, comparing it to my machine. It looks exactly like what I have that is cracked. Thankfully, water is not leaking, but I am concerned that could happen. Anyway, I was all set to purchase, but then clicked on the cross-reference tool. It said that this part will not be compatible with my dishwasher and suggested a different part that doesn't look like it would replace the piece that is cracked. Please help.

Jennifer, You're about to order the incorrect part number WD08X10075 lower door gasket. The correct part number for the model number you supplied is WD08X10059 / WD08X10059. The replacement procedure is slightly different. " The bottom door seal on PermaTuf tub models is replaced by removing the inner door panel (See Inner Door Panel (PermaTuf Tub Models).) Slide the door seal to one side off the channel. Note: When installing the door seal, be sure the seal slides freely in the channel. To remove the inner door panel: 1. Remove the 8 Phillips-head screws from the inner door. 2. Disconnect the 2 wires from the detergent/rinse module."

Annette for Model Number PDW7880J01SS

Last week my dishwasher (PDW7880J01SS) began leaking small amounts of water/suds from the lower center part of the door. Looking inside I noticed that the sealing surface of the short bottom door seal (Part # AP4355888) had degraded and much of it was missing. I found Matt's video very informative, but encountered a small difficulty. The front panel on my unit is one piece with a cutout for the electronic control panel thus making complete removal difficult. I removed enough screws to allow me access while still leaving the control panel in place. By feeling in between the two panels, I determined that the inner panel is attached to the door inside with the plastic rivets Matt describes. The problem arose when I was gently creating enough space using the screwdriver and small block of wood to allow the old seal to be pulled over the hinge. I heard a small "pop" and knew I had separated the plastic rivet from the door inside on the side I was working. The other side's rivet remained attached. I continued with the rest of the replacement without incident. I tried to squeeze the rivet back into place without success. I reassembled the door. As far as spacing and visual appearance, it looks just like the other side where the rivet is still intact. Finally, my question: Is it critical to have both rivets holding the inner panel to the inside of the door or is one sufficient? And if both are needed, will it go back together and how? Thank you.

1 Answer

Annette, The lower door gasket should have both of the rivets in it. If not then there is the possibility of the gasket shifting and causing a leak. You would want to take the front panel off the door and try to put the rivet back into place and if it will not go in then a new rivet would be required.

Hello Ross! Yes, the bottom door seal part number WD08X10075 is the correct replacement listed for your model PDW7800G00WW. You'll need to remove the outer door panel. With the door closed, insert a flat-blade screwdriver under the bottom of the door into the channel and twist to break the bead. Open the door and pull the seal from the channel. To install the seal, snap the seal into the channel, working from one side of the door to the other, until the entire bead is complete and the seal slides freely in the channel. Hope this helps you, thanks!

Hello CJ! No, the seal short bottom door, part number WD08X10075, will not work on your appliance. The bottom door seal on your model is not available separate from the inner door panel part number WD31X10067. Thanks.

Andi2007 for Model Number PDW7800G00BB

My dishwasher began leaking out of the front door. The pump is working and I purchased a Seal Short Bottom Door, Part #WD08X10075 for my GE PDW7800G00BB dishwasher. If I remove the inner screws, the front of the door comes off exposing the computer panel. There are also what appear to be plastic welds holding this panel on. Should I remove the door from the springs. The part requires screws, so I can't just slide it out, as many of the other posts seem to indicate.

Hello Andi2007, I would call in for a return authorization on this part since the bottom of the door is not truely sealed. The bottom of the door has to be able to allow air to enter the unit for the dry cycle. Most of the time when the unit leaks at the bottom of the door there is either a stopped up or seperating spray arm WD22X10047,WD35X10054, orWD22X10084, or the unit is overfilling. It can also be caused by over soaping or the use of an incorrect type of soap.

CJ, Without the model number of the unit, we cannot say for sure that this part will work for your dishwasher. This part WD08X10075 is for the bottom of the door for a dishwasher and may work on your unit but would need model to verify.
