The Pressure Switch is an OEM part for GE washing machines. This part ensures your machine fills with the correct amount of water for the selected cycle, preventing overfilling or insufficient water levels that can lead to suboptimal washing results.

A faulty Pressure Switch can result from several issues, including clogging with detergent residue or debris, wear and tear from regular use, or electrical malfunctions affecting its responsiveness.

Symptoms of a malfunctioning Pressure Switch include:

  • The washing machine overfilling or not filling enough
  • Wash cycles starting or stopping unexpectedly
  • Water levels not matching the selected cycle
  • The machine failing to move to the next cycle stage

This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Cyril, I would change the interface control, part number WH12X10323, I believe there is a problem with the micro switch on the interface.

Alan for Model Number HSWP1000M2WW

I’m still having a problem with unbalanced load. My machine is banging on spin and it’s shaking and moving. All of my clothes bunch up together and throw the machine off balance. I’m constantly stopping the machine and pulling clothes apart and moving them around inside the tub. I’m thinking the water level is a factor with bunching up of the clothes. The water level looks to me like it is too high in the tub. I took the pressure switch hose off and blew it out. I did not see any blockage. I did notice when I wash a small load the tub is half full and on large, it’s full of water. Super is also full of water. I also noticed on the side of the wash tub where the pressure switch air line connects, it’s like a little cup. It has inch of water inside it. Is that normal for it to have water in it? I think it should be empty I think its throwing off pressure switch. A little water is always in side that little cup, even when machine is not in use, (like half inch of water). Any insight? Thank you

Hello Alan, This is possibly a problem with the Shaft and Tube Assembly WH38X10019 or the inverter on the motor WH20X10093. The water levels sound correct so if there is too much water for a small load you should increase the clothing in the load. This will prevent the floating of the garments and causing the bunching condition if there are no agitation issues in the electronic drive system and the unit is properly leveled.

Hello Alan, Too few items in the wash will clump the items together and cause this issue. You can choose a smaller load size or add more garments to see if this helps correct the issue.

Hello El. It sounds like you need to clean out the pressure tube on the unit and make sure the air dome on the side of the tub is not clogged. If the air dome is clear and the pressure tube is clear, then it could be the pressure switch.

Steve, you're pretty much on target. the pressure switch does control the water level in the tub. But, don't forget the air dome hose WH41X365. It can and usually does get clogged with sediment or debris and the switch gets stuck in the empty mode. You can blow into the end of the hose, once you have it removed from the pressure switch, and check for any twists, kinks or pin holes in the air tube.

Hello Jeff. It sounds like the pressure switch is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. Blow through the pressure hose and make sure it is not clogged as well.

Hello Dexter, If the pressure switch was correctly installed, (water level down to bottom of tub), the water pressure should be checked by unplugging the unit while the unit is filling. If the water continues, the water valve has failed. If it goers off, you should probably check the pressure switch hose for clogs.

Patrick, Due to the design of the unit, there is no way to adjust the water level on the unit.
