The Terminal Block Kit is an OEM replacement part for GE electric ranges. This kit replaces the points of connection delivering power to control circuits and surface coil elements atop the cooktop.

Causes of failure are prolonged heat cycling which slowly breaks down solder joints and insulator coating on terminals conducting power. Liquids spilled can seep into connection areas over time promoting electrical faults.

Symptoms of a faulty terminal block include:

  • Inability to ignite or regulate specific burners
  • Burners that glow intermittently or fail to respond
  • Tripped circuit breakers upon use of problematic zones
  • Buzzing or cracking noises from under cooktop areas

This genuine GE kit is also compatible with Hotpoint and RCA electric ranges.

Questions & Answers

For Ge Surface Burner Terminal Block Kit (Part Number: OEM9609987)

Hello Arlene. WB2X2398 is the terminal block needed. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does not offer the wiring for your appliance. The wiring will have to be made and adapted to your appliance and may require a technician. Sorry about that!

Hello Mai, This depends on what the issue is with your range. If you need the light socket in the bake compartment, you will need the receptacle WB08T10026. If you need the surface burner receptacle, you would use the terminal block kit WB17T10006.

Tom, You will want to check the infinite switch on the elements in question from H1 to H2 with the knob turned to the on position and make sure that there is 240 vac at those points. If there is not 240 vac then the switch is bad and would need to be replaced.

Hello George, I have always used 330031 and never had a problem. Just let the wire nut twist the wires, (twisting the wires before the wire nut installation will cause the wires to break). Also, put the heat shrink on over the wire nut and the heat from the surface element will shrink it, (no need for flame in there). If you would rather, you can order four of these WB17T10006 but you will end up with some of the wires being too long which can cause problems sooner than expected.

I got a replacement terminal block WB17T10006. The video refers to a free standing stove-oven where there is access to a rear panel. But there is no access to such a panel for the drop in stove-oven. How do I get access to the terminals where I should connect the wires from the terminal block? Also, what would be the problem with splicing the wires from the terminal block to the existing wires that used to attach to the old terminal block? I could use either crimped wire connectors or solder. Thanks

Hello Richard, The problem with hooking to the wires instead of to the terminal block WB17X5095 is getting a good connection that will not burn out from the current flow. You may have to remove the unit from the installation but there will be a way to access the terminal block. Without the terminal block, you would need to make the connection with a split bolt and make sure it is well insulated to prevent an electrical short.

Hello Dean. Its possible you may have a bad element, but it sounds like you may have a bad infinite switch.

Hello Don. If they are shorting out, it may be due to bad elements causing arching inside the terminal block. I would try replacing the element with the block.

Ben for Model Number JDP36B0D1CT

There doesn't seem to be a kit available with the wire nuts and shrink tubing splice package for the GE WB17T10006 terminal block kit. I know you said to use either med or lrg high temp porecelain wire nuts, but what do you recommend in the way of shrink tubing to put over the wire nut splices? This GE unit is a built in, hard wired unit and will be difficult to get out and complete a repair, so I'd like to use the splice method near the terminal block, but I want to be sure I have the right high temp wire nuts and high temp shrink tubing. Thanks for your help.

Ben, The wire nuts, as long as they are ceramic will work for your unit. It is not necessary to put the shrink wrap on the nuts. The shrink is normally used in situations where there is moisture to keep the moisture from getting into the connection.
