For Lg Ice Bucket Assembly (Part Number: OEM15326034)

Pat for Model Number LSC27931ST

I have had problems with the ice maker bin since I bought this model 9 years ago. As long as I use the cube setting and empty the bin daily I have no problem. But once I use the crushed setting the ice bin begins to keep residual of the ice and it starts to build up and clogs the emptying entrance. Even if I switch back to cubes it remains clogged until I remove the bin, empty and defrost all ice pieces. If the bin is not emptied at least every 48 hours it will start to freeze the bin in place and it has to be manually defrosted as the bin canot be removed. From other reviews I see it doesn't appear there has been any changes made to the bin but apparently the air freezes the entrance somehow. Seems it would be better served if a different material was used other than the plastic in place. I hate going thru this routine. Is there any way of correcting this situation?

Hello Pat, check that the ice chute flapper ABN55757903, is fully sealing each time it opens in use. This sounds like a typical air leak from the chute area.

My ice dispenser only gives mostly crushed ice no matter the setting. I ordered the solenoid switch from you and I still have same problem. I think I need to replace with the bucket assembly but at 139.00, I wanted to see if you had an opinion. The metal bar that I am guessing lifts the switch, really does not move on my bucket. I don't know if it goes straight up and down or rotate when you activate the crushed or cube, mine with my hand really won't do anything. Any advice (not guarantee) before I order this part? Thanks so much!

Susan, The arm on the ice bucket should lift up and if it is not then check to make sure that there is no ice that is built up on the bottom which would cause it to not move. If there is no ice build up then the issue would most likely be the bin.

Andrew, Unfortunately we do not have the size of the nut for the ice bin. The nut is also not made available for purchase as a separate part by the manufacturer.

My refer is 4 years old. I HAVE CHANGED THE ICEMAKER FIVE TIMES. The symptoms are always the same. After running a few months an icicle forms on the left of icemaker drips down an freezes the ice bin limit lever and ice maker stops working. I have traced the drip to the harvester wiper. What to do to remedy this problem. Ice maker should last longer than this. PS I CAN PULL OUT THE BIN LEVER AN IT WORKS FINE EXCEPT IT WON'T SHUT OFF. THANKS.

1 Answer

Richard, It sounds like the water is splashing out of the icemaker, possibly from the door closing. When the unit icemaker arm freezes you do not want to pull on the lever. Instead take out the ice bin and use low heat to melt the ice from the arm and dry it. This will eliminate the arm being damaged by pulling on it because once you pull on it to free it up then it is damaged and will most likely not work.
