The Drain Pump and Motor is an original LG (OEM) replacement part for LG made washing machines that is responsible for removing water from the washer at the end of the wash cycle. The pump forces water out through the drain hose so that clothing comes out free of excess water, making the drying process faster.

Symptoms of a failing Drain Pump Motor include:

  • Water not draining out of the washing machine
  • Noisy or unusual sounds coming from the pump area during the drain cycle
  • The washing machine stopping mid-cycle

Causes of a bad Drain Pump Motor can range from obstructions in the pump or hose, which can strain or damage the motor, to wear and tear from regular use leading to motor failure. Electrical issues can also affect the motor's performance, preventing it from operating correctly.

This OEM LG part can also be used on Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Tracy, Yes the correct pump for your unit would be part number 4681EA2001T. You will want to make sure that the drain pump is not clogged or have obstructions in it and also check to make sure that there is power to the drain pump when the unit is calling for the pump to come on. If there is power and the pump is clear then the pump would need to be replaced. The unit will not spin properly if it is not draining the water out.

I Just Changed My Drain Pump(using Your Video Which Was Very Good) Because Water Was Not Being Drained From Washtub And Was Getting Oe Error. After I Finished Putting Back Together I Ran Washer And To My Chagrin, Tub Drain Completely But Drain Pump Kept Running And Got The Oe Error Again. Inside Wash Tub Empty Of Water, But Drain Pump Kept Running And Would Not Go Into Rinse Cycle… Any Ideas Would Be Much Appreciated. Another Question Is The Drain Pump Housing That Is Connected To Drain Pump, Is There Suppose To Be Any Mechanical items In The Housing, I Pulled Out What Look Like Underwire From Bras Out Of The Housing, I'M Hoping I didn't Pull Out Anything Of Importance Out Of Housing. Just Wanted To Make Sure Housing Was Just Open Plastic To Connect Drain And recirculate Pump To.

Hello Dan. You need to check the pressure switch on the unit and the pressure hose on the unit. Either if bad could cause the issue.

Hello Jeff, You need to remove the hose that runs from the outer tub to the pump and make sure an item, (such as a sock), is not between the tubs and blocking the drain opening. Also check the other hoses for blockages. If there is no blockage and the unit is fully draining, replace the main board EBR32268002 since it is misreading the information to being sent to it.

Rich D for Model Number LG WM2010HW

I have been having problems with having to constantly drain the tube below every week after washing maybe 5 loads max otherwise washer will leak below and water will fill in the soap dispenser above. Is this normal for this washer or could the pump below be clogged or partially working. I took the top off and see no wetness around the intake valve or black bellows hose. I have had the large rubber seal around the door replaced recently which did have a tear. I checked the new one and do not see a tear.

1 Answer

Hello Rich. Either the pump filter is clogged or the drain pump is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Hello Rachel. If there is power to the pump, and it does not drain, you will need to replace the pump on the unit. As for only lasting 1 year, we have no way of determining what could cause that issue.
