The Drain Pump and Motor is an original LG (OEM) replacement part for LG made washing machines that is responsible for removing water from the washer at the end of the wash cycle. The pump forces water out through the drain hose so that clothing comes out free of excess water, making the drying process faster.

Symptoms of a failing Drain Pump Motor include:

  • Water not draining out of the washing machine
  • Noisy or unusual sounds coming from the pump area during the drain cycle
  • The washing machine stopping mid-cycle

Causes of a bad Drain Pump Motor can range from obstructions in the pump or hose, which can strain or damage the motor, to wear and tear from regular use leading to motor failure. Electrical issues can also affect the motor's performance, preventing it from operating correctly.

This OEM LG part can also be used on Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Phil, You will want to check the main control board EBR32268002 to make sure that there is 120 vac getting to it. If there is no power to it then you will want to check the line filter 6201EC1006T. If the line filter has power in but no power out then you will need to replace the line filter. If there is power in and out and power at the main control board then the issue would either be a faulty control or a faulty display board.

Jim, Yes, the "OE" error code indicates the tub still has enough water in it to keep the pressure switch from resetting to empty. You will want to dismantle the pump assembly and check the hoses and impeller for damage or clogs> If all's OK, then replace the drain pump 4681EA2001T.

Rich, You will want to check the water valve to make sure that the housing of the valve does not have a crack in it. This would be the most likely cause with the water not shutting off when the unit is shut off.

Scott, It is unlikely for the drain pump to fail after 6 weeks, although it can happen. The first thing that you will want to check is to make sure that there is nothing clogged in the drain pump that would cause it to not run and would cause the vibration noise. If there is something clogged then you will want to test the unit by putting it into a diagnostic after the pump has been cleaned. If the pump does not pump the water out then it may have been damaged by the debris.
