The Drain Pump and Motor is an original LG (OEM) replacement part for LG made washing machines that is responsible for removing water from the washer at the end of the wash cycle. The pump forces water out through the drain hose so that clothing comes out free of excess water, making the drying process faster.

Symptoms of a failing Drain Pump Motor include:

  • Water not draining out of the washing machine
  • Noisy or unusual sounds coming from the pump area during the drain cycle
  • The washing machine stopping mid-cycle

Causes of a bad Drain Pump Motor can range from obstructions in the pump or hose, which can strain or damage the motor, to wear and tear from regular use leading to motor failure. Electrical issues can also affect the motor's performance, preventing it from operating correctly.

This OEM LG part can also be used on Kenmore/Sears appliances.

Aaron for Model Number WM3677HW

Hi! I have an LG all-in-one with this pump, which is VERY clearly the weakest link. I've replaced it twice, and now... again. Two things happen: 1) if anything with grit (garden soil) is washed, it gets into the impeller drive cavity with the magnet, and grinds the magnet until small, sticky balls of magnetic material form. This kills the pump. 2) The impeller, which is on a 2/3 free swing (why?) breaks loose. The small brass tab will break off, and there will be a grinding noise. I've epoxied the impeller in place (solid) with some success, but it's broken again. It's more trouble to tip the thing over to replace than I'm happy with. QUESTION: Is there an uprated pump? I've seriously considered strapping a small utility pump to the outside of the machine, and connecting the wires...

Hello San. You need to check and see if the pump is clogged. If not, then you will need to replace the drain pump 4681EA2001T on the unit.

Hello Dan, The drain pump comes of by holding the locking tab back and unscrew the pump from its' mounting position. The new one goes in by reversing this procedure. There are only two wires and since the motor is ac powered and is not polarized, the wires can be swapped and the unit will operate the exact same way as if the wires were not crossed.
