The Hi Limit Thermal Fuse is an OEM part for LG dryers. This fuse is a safety device that protects the dryer from overheating by cutting off power to the heating element if the dryer’s temperature exceeds a safe limit. It ensures that the dryer operates within safe temperature ranges, preventing potential fire hazards.

Replace the hi limit thermal fuse if it becomes faulty due to wear and tear, a buildup of lint, or exposure to high temperatures over time. A malfunctioning fuse can compromise the dryer’s ability to regulate heat properly.

Symptoms of a bad hi limit thermal fuse include:

  • The dryer not heating
  • The dryer shutting off unexpectedly during a cycle
  • No response from the dryer when attempting to start a cycle
  • Extended drying times due to lack of heat

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Ray, Unfortunately you would not be able to use a different thermostat and if the thermostat keeps failing then check for clogged venting and possibly a stuck relay on the control board.

Cendy for Model Number DLE0442W

We moved my LG dryer from one house to another. We did not hook up the vent because we did not have the proper vent kit. Used dryer without venting. It worked great first load. At end of the load I noticed the inside light burnt out when the door was opened. Tried to start a new load. All lights come on everything is as normal but when I push start it will not tumble. Everything I have read on repair forums points toward the Thermal Fuse and the Door switch assembly. Is this a good place to start for repair? Thanks in Advance Cendy

Goose, The high limit thermostat on this unit would open at 257 degrees and close at 221. These are with a variable of plus or minus 9 degrees.

Jim, You will want to check the thermistor on your unit to ensure that the thermistor is good. This will be the most likely cause for longer drying cycles. The thermistor part number is 6323EL2001B.

Luis, You will want to make sure that the heating element on the unit is cycling. It sounds like there could be a stuck relay on the control board that is causing it to not cycle. If this is the case then the control board would need to be replaced.

Torrie, You will want to check to make sure that there is 240 vac at the terminal block. If there is power then the most likely cause will be the main control board that has failed.
