The Hi Limit Thermal Fuse is an OEM part for LG dryers. This fuse is a safety device that protects the dryer from overheating by cutting off power to the heating element if the dryer’s temperature exceeds a safe limit. It ensures that the dryer operates within safe temperature ranges, preventing potential fire hazards.

Replace the hi limit thermal fuse if it becomes faulty due to wear and tear, a buildup of lint, or exposure to high temperatures over time. A malfunctioning fuse can compromise the dryer’s ability to regulate heat properly.

Symptoms of a bad hi limit thermal fuse include:

  • The dryer not heating
  • The dryer shutting off unexpectedly during a cycle
  • No response from the dryer when attempting to start a cycle
  • Extended drying times due to lack of heat

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

John for Model Number DLE2515S

Hi. Thanks for your forums and info. I have an LG2515S which has stopped heating up. Inside there appear to be at least 3 sensors, the two mounted on the heating element that you describe well on your site, the thermostat and the hi-limit thermostat, but also another mounted on the outlet passage at the bottom of the filter housing. This latter one measures a short but the other two do not. I just wanted to buy the one I need, rather than guess or buy all three, so I measured their cold resistance. The thermostat measures about 260ohms and the hi-limit measures open. Any ideas to narrow the search? For reference, the dryer runs cold with the 'drying' light blinking and the 'cooling' light on solid. thanks

John, If the high limit thermostat does not have continuity then the issue will be with the hi limit. For the outlet thermistor you would want to check for resistance on this part. It does sound like the high limit is out though.

Maria, We would need the model number of the unit to properly assist but based on most hi limit thermostats will open at about 230 degrees.

Jdjohn, You will want to check to see if the control board is sending power to the motor on the unit. If the motor is getting 120 vac to it then the issue will be with the motor centrifugal switch stuck and the motor would need to be replaced.

Hello Minguel. You need to check the power cord connections. If they are good, then check the outlet for the dryer.

Matt for Model Number DLE251GW

Have LG dryer that functions properly for about 15 mins then back of dryer towards top get extremely hot and dryer kicks off. Vent is completely free of lint and obstruction and I have thoroughly cleaned inside of dryer completely of all lint including motor. Obviously the excessive heat is turning the dryer off but is the heat building up do to motor shutting off or is there a sensor that is causing the element to get to hot shutting shutting dryer down. I'm stumped! Thanks Matt

Don, This hi limit thermostat is not a resettable thermostat. This is a thermal cut out and if it trips it does not reset. If the thermal has tripped again then you will want to make sure that the venting from the blower wheel of the unit to the outside of the home is clean. A clogged vent system will cause the part to fail.

Hello Tony, Since this is not a polarized part, the wires can be connected either way and the unit will operate the same way.
