John September 07, 2014 for Model Number DLE2515S Hi. Thanks for your forums and info. I have an LG2515S which has stopped heating up. Inside there appear to be at least 3 sensors, the two mounted on the heating element that you describe well on your site, the thermostat and the hi-limit thermostat, but also another mounted on the outlet passage at the bottom of the filter housing. This latter one measures a short but the other two do not. I just wanted to buy the one I need, rather than guess or buy all three, so I measured their cold resistance. The thermostat measures about 260ohms and the hi-limit measures open. Any ideas to narrow the search? For reference, the dryer runs cold with the 'drying' light blinking and the 'cooling' light on solid. thanks
1 Answer John, If the high limit thermostat does not have continuity then the issue will be with the hi limit. For the outlet thermistor you would want to check for resistance on this part. It does sound like the high limit is out though. Read More...
1 Answer Maria, We would need the model number of the unit to properly assist but based on most hi limit thermostats will open at about 230 degrees. Read More...
Jdjohn July 26, 2014 for Model Number DLEX3250W My dryer worked for a few hours, wife could smell something, opened dryer found smell was coming from dryer, removed clothes now dryer will not tumble or dry, powers on and clicks twice when i press start, nothing happens.
1 Answer Jdjohn, You will want to check to see if the control board is sending power to the motor on the unit. If the motor is getting 120 vac to it then the issue will be with the motor centrifugal switch stuck and the motor would need to be replaced. Read More...

Matt July 03, 2014 for Model Number DLE251GW Have LG dryer that functions properly for about 15 mins then back of dryer towards top get extremely hot and dryer kicks off. Vent is completely free of lint and obstruction and I have thoroughly cleaned inside of dryer completely of all lint including motor. Obviously the excessive heat is turning the dryer off but is the heat building up do to motor shutting off or is there a sensor that is causing the element to get to hot shutting shutting dryer down. I'm stumped! Thanks Matt
1 Answer Hello Matt. Test the exhaust temp and if it cycles, you have a bad motor on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Don May 13, 2014 for Model Number dle5977w Hi. After using it for several hours straight, my LG dryer stopped producing heat. First I changed the Thermostat. Nope. Then I changed the Hi-Limit Thermostat. That fixed the problem, but for only one load of laundry. Again, no heat. I read on your site that the Hi-Limit Thermostat is now re-settable. Is there something I need to do to re-set it? Should I replace a different part? Thanks.
1 Answer Don, This hi limit thermostat is not a resettable thermostat. This is a thermal cut out and if it trips it does not reset. If the thermal has tripped again then you will want to make sure that the venting from the blower wheel of the unit to the outside of the home is clean. A clogged vent system will cause the part to fail. Read More...
