Symptoms of a bad ice maker assembly include:

  • Ice not dispensing when the oven is engaged

Questions & Answers

For Lg Ice Maker Assembly Kit (Part Number: OEM17027865)

1 Answer

Monte, If you did not remove the complete auger housing when removing the wiring then you are only seeing what is connecting to the icemaker and the larger plug in will be located behind that housing. You will remove the 2 screws at the bottom under where the ice bin sits and and 2 screws on the wall under the icemaker to remove the auger cover. This icemaker will be the correct one for your unit.

Jeff, Yes you can leave the icemaker out as it should not cause an issue with the operation of the unit. You may get an error code saying the thermistor for icemaker is bad but should not stop the unit from working.

The tray on our ice maker is broken in that the peg (axis) that the tray rotates about (opposite the side that actually actuates the rotation) has snapped off. Is there ANY possibility that you know of to just purchase the tray? The cost of a whole replacement ice maker along with all of the difficulty in actually replacing it (wiring, temp sensor placement, etc...) seems excessive when all we really need to do is reattach a water tube and snap it into the ice maker.

1 Answer

Ken, Unfortunately the manufacturer does not offer the tray separately and will need to get the icemaker for it.

I ordered this part today and hope it will come with detailed instructions since I see no video for it. In order to assure we were choosing the correct part, we removed the entire panel that holds the icemaker to check the wire assembly. Like another person posting here, after wrestling with that iced up assembly, with very tightly taped wires and such, we have no idea where the white probe goes now. You suggest to that user that there is an obvious spot for it. We saw nothing obvious. Please provide a photo or a more detailed description of where it goes and whether it must also be taped in place. Also, please advise of the type of type to use when the old tape loses its grip. Many thanks.

Hello Ann. Yes the blue wire with the white head will be a sensor but it will be go on the backside of the panel where there will be a spot for it. You will see where it lays and you will need to tape it in place. There should be tape already there for the old one. Thanks.
