The Diverter Motor Assembly is an OEM part for LG dishwashers. It is a critical component used to control the direction of water flow within the dishwasher, ensuring that water is properly diverted between the different spray arms during various wash cycles.

Symptoms of a failing Diverter Motor Assembly include:

  • Inadequate cleaning of dishes, with some areas remaining dirty
  • Unusual noises, like humming or clicking, indicating the diverter motor is struggling to operate
  • Error codes displayed on the dishwasher that relate to water distribution problems
  • Water not reaching all spray arms

Causes of a bad diverter motor can include wear and tear from regular use, electrical issues such as faulty wiring or motor failure, and mechanical obstructions or debris that prevent the diverter from moving smoothly.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Ray for Model Number LDS5811ST

We have a 2006 LDS5811ST which has recently begun making a strange noise. No error codes yet, but I'm concerned it's starting to go out. A few minutes after the machine is turned on, I hear a whirring noise which "rev's up" then stops, then "rev's up" again a little longer...for several times, then runs & sounds like it' circulating.. I suspect the pump motor is beginning to fail but have seen other diagnosis with things like diverters? Any suggestions? I replaced the pump motor in 2011, but not the entire assembly. Thanks

Ray, You will want to check to make sure that there is not anything that is caught in the pump. It does sound like the issue would have something to do with the pump but sounds more like something being caught in it.

Vlad, The most likely cause for the loss of pressure would be that the diverter motor may have failed. If the diverter motor stopped mid turn then it would have water going to the upper and lower spray arms but would not be full pressure or allow it to turn.

Maik for Model Number LDS5811WW

My dishwasher stopped cleaning dishes one day. We get little to no water in top rack plenty of water in bottom rack but those dishes didn't come clean in the bottom nor did the soap chamber open and dissolve the soap. i downloaded tech manual and ran test mode sect 4.3(4-3-1). When I first put into test mode i get error code n:3h/ u:03 (alternating flashing) then the instructions say to push a button from to 13 times and i should get different readings. The display stops on the tenth time and reads n:3a and alternatively flashes the numbers 22/23. If I try to proceed for further diagnostics, it doesn't go to numbers 11-13. Not sure what parts need repair nor do I understand the diagnostic readout. I suspect from my other research it may have something to do with the vario spray system or vari motor assembly. Please confirm and advise what parts are needed.

Maik, This issue would be an indication that the vario motor is not working properly. You will want to make sure that there is nothing caught in the nozzles and if there is not then replace the motor.

Donald, If the stepping motor is not working then that would be the issue with the upper rack not getting water to it.

Mike, The "LE" error code, would indicate the wash pump assembly 3111DD1001A is clogged or the motor 4681ED1004B is damaged. You'll need to remove and dismantle the pump assembly, in order to remove the motor, so you should find the damaged impeller or clog in the casing when doing the teardown, if thats the issue.

Hello Gerry, As long as the unit fills sufficiently, there is either another screen down inside the pump stopping up, the impeller has debris wrapped around it, or a piece of broken glass has worn the impellers down.

Hello Lee. Check the water level inside the unit and see if it is filling up properly. If not, the water valve may be bad and need to be replaced on the unit. Also, make sure the arms are not clogged or leaking water due to cracks in them.

Hello Russell. Uninstall dishwasher and flip it over on its top. Then remove the base cover and gain access to the Vario motor assembly 4681ED3001D. Remove 2 screws for Vario Motor. Pull the Vario Motor out of the unit and remove the wires going to it. Reinstall with the new motor in reverse order. Hope this helps.
