Marilyn A September 02, 2013 for Model Number MEF305PBWJ When I had the oven on, I noticed one day that the bake element was glowing brighter in the back near where it connects to the oven. A couple of days later I was baking something and a loud roar came from the oven and I saw sparks flying from the bottom of the oven and the breaker tripped. The element had burned completely in two, right where I had seen it glowing bright. I wondered if I could just replace the element or if I need to buy a new stove.
1 Answer Hello Marilyn. It sounds like the element 316075103 burnt out and just needs to be replaced in the unit. Read More...
Paula May 29, 2013 My Frigidaire oven will not heat up. We tried replacing the heating element but that is not the problem When we try to set the temp. it lights up clicks a couple of times and that's all it does. the top of the stove works fine. I don't want to start buying a lot of things when we don't know what is wrong our stove is about 4 years. old. I don't remember the oven thermostat clicking when we would turn the oven on before
1 Answer Hello Paula. If the element is new, and it does not work, you will need to order and replace the control for the oven to repair the unit. You can test for power to the element. It should be 240 volts for an electric element. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html We will need your model number to help you more with this. Jeff February 09, 2013 for Model Number MER5530AAL We're having a problem with the "bake" feature on the oven. The bottom element heats up slow (like 10minutes for 10-20 degrees and it tops out at around 200). How do I tell if its an issue with the element, the connector clips, or the thermostat? The broil feature, top element, and all the burners work fine and it was an "all of a sudden" kind of a failure.
1 Answer Hello Jeff, This sounds like you have a bad bake relay on the clock assembly WP12001628. Read More...
Guy January 27, 2013 for Model Number MER5770AAW The oven heats, but falls short of the proper temp. that it's set for. I checked with a manual thermometer in the oven, setting on the oven was 350 and the actual reading was 275. How do I determine if it's the element or temp sensor?
1 Answer Hello Guy. The sensor should read around 1100 ohms at room temp and 1650 ohms at 350°. Id it is testing properly, but the oven temp is not correct, replace the sensor. If the sensor is reading good, and the oven thinks it is 350°, you will need to replace the control on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Donald August 22, 2012 for Model Number fef365asd My oven made a pop and the bottom element was hot in one spot, now neither element gets hot. Do I replace both elements?
1 Answer Hello Donald. No, you need to test the elements and see if either one is bad. If so, replace the bad element. If there is not 240 volts coming to the elements, but they are coming to the unit, you will need to replace the control board as well on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Rosie May 03, 2012 My heating element needs to be replaced but I cant see the model # only see serial# which is 32681229p002. It's a hotpoint. How do I know what one is the right one to buy ?
1 Answer Hi Rosie. The model # is usually behind the storage drawer after it is removed. The model tag is there on the vertical frame legs. Or look on the back of the control panel Lt. or Rt. corners with a mirror. You can remove the power and remove the element completely. Then open this link and see if you can match the original one to the one pictured. Remember the square's represent a 1" cube for measurements. http://www.appliancepartspros.com/Appliance-Parts/?keyword=hotpoint%20oven%20heating%20element. Thank You. Read More...
