Ice clumping in Ice Storage Bin. When I pull the ice bin I will see water dripping from the ice maker near the front left. It looks as if the ice maker is leaking, however when I pull the ice maker and fill it with water I cannot find the source of the leak. My theory now is that the valve suppling water to the ice maker is continuing to drip when it should be fully off, resulting in the ice maker overfilling with water and dripping. I am thinking I need to get the Water Filter assembly? Any tests you suggest to verify the source of issue? Thanks

1 Answer

Steven, Check the icemaker mold and make sure that the coating is not peeling off. If it is not then this will most likely be the valve that is faulty.

My icemaker is not making ice. I can't locate the water inlet valve to test it out. I took the bottom cover off the back and it's not in the lower left like other models.. there is a cover mid-height but that was just covering the lines coming out. I've taken out the ice maker assembly and it is not frozen. I tried the reset button but it never dings. The ice maker makes a noise like motor trying to turn for about a minute going (rrrrrr, rrrrrr, rrrrrr, rrrrrr, rrrrrr). Thoughts on what part I need? Thanks.

1 Answer

Denny, With the ice maker motor humming and not cycling then it would need to be replaced. Without the ice maker cycling, it will not call for water.DA97-07365G

Brian, the valve could be an issue. However, you may also want to check water pressure as a water pressure that is outside of a range of 50 to 90 psi can cause irregular functioning of a water valve.

Billsigs, This water would most likely be caused by a clogged drain line in the refrigerator compartment. You will want to remove the rear wall in the refrigerator compartment and check the drain for being frozen. If frozen you will want to clean out the drain and flush with hot water and install drain clip DA61-14306A.

Shawn, You will want to make sure that the water filter is good and if it is then the filter housing will most likely be the issue.

My water dispenser was not working then install new Assy Case Water Filter/DA97-11433A/ and the water dispenser working fine, but ice maker stop working. Valve is Ok because water is coming to the ice maker for the first time when I plug in the refrigerator to the power. I've tried a reset but still no luck. The old Assy Case Water Filter has three connectors but the new one only two, valves and lights. Could be the issue with different connectors? If so, could you please give Me proper part numbers to install.

1 Answer

Hello Stan, The water and ice valves are different since the icemaker doesn't fill when dispensing and the water does not dispense when the icemaker cycles. Also, it appears that you should have installed the water filter case assembly DA82-02869A. The icemaker DA97-07365G on this unit may need to be replaced if it is not auto-cycling.

Hello. My ice maker is not making ice cubes, while the water dispenser works fine. I've changed the filter and tried a reset, but still no luck. I suspect the Assy Case Water Filter (DA97-11433A) may be the problem. I understand from previous questions that this contains a valve which controls water flow to the ice maker, and is likely a solenoid valve (?). This being the case, can I do a resistance check to see if the solenoid coil is burnt out? If so, what resistance value would I be looking for? Thanks.

1 Answer

Nigel, The water valve solenoid would normally have a resistance range of 500 to 1500 ohms resistance. A better way to check the operation would be to check the voltage to the solenoid. Disconnect the wires from the solenoid, insert the meter probes into the wire connections and test cycle the ice maker. When the ice maker control enters the fill mode of the cycle, there should be a voltage reading across the wires. This is a more "positive" test. Just be careful when working around the electrical connections.

Hello Larry. You will need to check and see if the fill tube is clogged and if the valve is bad. Make sure the temp is 0-5° in the unit also. Thank you.

Bill, You will want to make sure that the water filter is not old and needing replaced. If the filter is ok then this will likely be the water valve for the unit which will be part number DA82-02869A.
