However, I have already disassembled my washer and removed the spider assembly, and the picture exactly matches this part (DC97-14875B), and not the one that is recommended. Is it possible that this is the correct part for my washer? Are they the same dimensions and possibly interchangeable?

1 Answer Hello Doug, The manufacturer has the shaft assembly only available as part of the spin basket assembly DC97-15013D. The spin bearing is only available as part of the rear outer tub assembly DC97-15328F. There is no reason to paint the shaft and it would serve no purpose since the detergent would remove the paint and contaminate the wash load. John October 24, 2014 for Model Number WF218ANW/XAA-0000 Ordered new shaft (DC97-14875B) for back of drum. It came with an o-ring that was not present on the old shaft that came out. There was, however a flat steel spring type washer on the old unit that is not included with the new one. It sits between the bearing and the flange shaft. Do I use both? Also that shaft on the new one came dry (no lube). Can I just use the same kind of grease I'd use on a car axle? It looks like the same stuff.
