Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Ice Maker Assembly (Part Number: OEM13005678)

Hello Mike. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the icemaker DA97-05422A is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Skip, In most cases when the icemaker heater gets damaged or is not coming on then the issue is not with the icemaker but with the main control board of the unit not sending the signal to the heater on the icemaker to turn on when the unit starts to cycle. This will cause the fingers to have to force the ice out of the icemaker and eventually will damage the icemaker.

Steve for Model Number RS263TD

Samsung Side by side, Ice maker not working at all. Arm on unit will not move and I don't want to force it. Is there anyway to check to see if the ice maker has power or if it needs to be replaced. Or if it's the control panel unit. Water works fine. I see many people having problems with these units. As far as I can tell, If I need an ice maker it's Unit # DA97-02203H. Is there any recall or an upgraded unit that you know of. Thanks for any advise. Steve

1 Answer

Steve, On the bottom of the icemaker head there is a button that is a test button. If you press and hold that button, the icemaker should go into a cycle. If it does not then the icemaker is most likely the cause for the issue.

Hello. It does not sound like the icemaker. It sounds like the valve is overfilling and will need to be replaced.

Hello Walt. If you pressed the button and the unit would not cycle, the main control board may be bad and may be causing the issue with the unit.

Hello Bill. Either it is not releasing the cubes or it is overfilling. You need to watch it cycle and see what it does then replace either the icemaker or the water valve on the unit. If it is over filling, bad valve.

Poppi for Model Number RB215LASH

I have a Samsung RB215LASH and have had to replace 4 ice makers in the past 5 years. The most recent problem is that the ice maker rotates completely but does not dump all the the ice. Subsequently, water overflows the ice tray and freezes in the bucket. A service rep (A&E) told me there was something wrong with the ice tray that was preventing the tray from releasing the ice when it turns. He suggested I could replace the tray only and that would probably solve my situation. I would appreciate a second opinion on that fix. In the past I have replaced the entire assembly. Thanks. Poppi.

1 Answer

Hello Poppi. I have found in the past it is best to replace the whole assembly and not just the tray for that issue. Sounds more like the head is not going far enough to dump all the ice.

Anthony, To replace the icemaker in your unit, there are 2 screws at the front of the icemaker that you will remove. Slide the icemaker forward and it will unhook from the tabs on the top of the unit. Then you would disconnect the wire harness and remove the icemaker. Plug in the new and reinstall. The icemaker assembly would need to be replaced DA97-02203H.

Tommy, The water valve for the unit is located on the back of the refrigerator behind the cover in the rear.

Hello Gail, Most models have one screw that threads into the ceiling. Some have two. Removing these will enable you to slide the unit forward off of the retainers. Un-plug the harness and it will be free in your hand. Installation is the same but reverse order.
