For Samsung Ice Maker Assembly (Module) (Part Number: OEM18988140)

1 Answer

Hello Kirk, thanks for reaching out to AppliancePartsPros.com The manufacturer does not appear to offer the ice maker, auger, and fan assemblies as a single overall assembly. The ice maker module is DA97-18859A, the ice tray assembly with the auger is DA97-20157A, and the auger motor assembly with the auger motor and ice room fan is DA97-12540K.

SB, It would be recommended to check to see if there is power to the dual water valve. Check for 120 vac when the icemaker calls for water. If there is 120 vac but no water coming through then this will be a faulty water valve that would need to be replaced. If there is not 120 vac then this will be a faulty icemaker.

Hello Jerry, thank you for contacting APP, I'd first make sure that the Icemaker is on at the user interface, it should show Icemaker or IM On or Off, if it is off turn it on and try testing the IM again. If the IM is On and you are only getting the first chime it is most likely that the Ice Maker AP6261444 has failed and will need to be replaced.

CC, This icemaker has a sensor built in that will tell the unit when it is full. It would be more likely that there is a problem with the water valve than with the sensor if there is no water or ice in the icemaker.

Ryan for Model Number RF22R7551DT/AA

I installed a new icemaker DA97-13718C because it wasn't making ice and compartment was frozen up with frost and ice. I unplugged refrigerator 2 days before and let whole thing thaw out. Then installed a new icemaker. After installing it new icemaker made only one batch and after that it has started to freeze up under icemaker again and cubes are once again stuck over the icemaker and it has stopped making ice again. Online forums suggest to replace main board?? Could that cause it and if yes, what's the right part number for the main board?

1 Answer

Ryan, There would appear to be an air leak around the casing of the ice compartment and you will want to use a silicone sealant to seal it inside around the gap and on the outside around the seam. The part number needed will be DA81-05595A.

Brandi, if the ice maker was installed while the appliance power cord was plugged into the wall outlet, it is possible that the main control could have been damaged. If unplugging the power cord for 5 minutes and then plugging it back in does not correct the issue, the main control would need to be replaced (based on water flow from the water dispenser being good before the repair). For the most accurate part identification, the REV number from the model tag would be necessary.

Carole, with the ice bin removed, there will be a cover on the bottom left of the ice compartment with a screw securing it and both would need to be removed. This will allow access to the ice maker wire connector so that it can be unplugged. From there, the front of the ice maker will have a screw at the bottom that will need to be removed so that the ice maker lower plate can be opened up. Once it is opened up, there will be a push tab on the top of the front of the ice maker that would be pressed towards the face of the ice maker and the assembly should pull forward carefully. Care will need to be taken as there is an evaporator coil in between the lower plate and the main body of the ice maker.
