Questions & Answers

For Samsung Dryer Thermostat (Part Number: OEM12605691)

Zorrillo, For this issue, you will want test the thermostats on the unit to make sure that they have continuity. There are 2 components other than the thermostats which would cause the heating element not to work. First is the motor and second the Control board. The best option is to disconnect the power to the unit and access the heating element. Disconnect one wire that is going to the heating element, preferably the one on the thermostat side. Plug the unit back up and using a multimeter you will want to turn the dryer on and test for 120 vac at the terminal on the heater where the wire was disconnected. What this will do is eliminate the heater element itself and the motor. If there is 120 vac at this point then you know the heater is good and the motor is good because the other 120 vac coming through the thermostats is the control board side of the circuit. If there is not 120 vac at that point then you will want to test the other terminal on the heater and check for 120 vac. If there is not 120 vac then the motor would be bad .

Scott, The high limit thermostat is the part that should be on the side of the heater housing and not the thermal cutout.

Stephanie, Thanks for the question!!! There is a temperature rating difference. Your model is calling for DC47-00016A / DC47-00016A. That is the one you will want to use.

Anthony Hampton for Model Number dv422ewhdwr/aa

My Samsung dryer quit heating. There are no error codes. I originally thought the Thermistor was bad because the original one was reading open - I've read it should be about 10k ohms. I ordered a new one and the new one reads open as well. I installed it and still no heat. I have checked the heating element and it reads about 10omh, the thermal fuse on the vent reads closed, the thermostat and thermal fuse on the heater assembly reads closed (less than 1ohm). Any help would be appreciated

Lynn for Model Number DV42H5000EW/A3

Hello, My Samsung Dryer (less than 2 years old) does not complete a cycle. When I set it to let's say a 40 min cycle, it shuts down after like 5 minutes. There's hardly any heat. I cleaned the dryer vents (including to outside), changed vent hose, and don't see any obstructions. I've already taken the dryer apart, but I don't know what part to change (heating element, thermal fuse, thermostat?). When I use a multi-meter what should I look for to know which one is the problem? Also, is DV42H5000EW/A3 the same as DV42H5000EW/A3-0000? Thank You Lynn

Lynn, the sensor bars DC61-02627A could cause this issue if there is a film build-up that can be cleaned using vinegar and a scrub pad. Another possibility could be that there is a lint build-up on the motor that can cause it to overheat and stop. If these things are good and there is not an obstruction in the blower wheel housing, then the failure would likely be with a stuck start key in the user control DC92-01607H.

Jay, the thermistor DC32-00007A would need to be tested for resistance and should measure 10kO at room temperature as this would be the likely cause.

Doug, it is hard to guess but I like doing it anyway. I would bet that the motor overload is tripping as the motor is overheating. Best to take the dryer apart and follow your nose to where that smell is. It could also be visible you disassemble the unit. You would also what to check the heating element and all thermal fuses and cutoffs.
