Elaine Rommel June 01, 2023 for Model Number Anode Rod 6603739 Whirlpool Water Heater I am thinking about replacing my own Anode Rod, it has a plastic cap you can pop off, once I popped off cap there is another covering that almost looks like what they use for certain prescription bottles to keep them fresh. It looks like you just have to pierce it, but I am not sure? I know nothing about plumbing but I am a single lady who has been getting ripped off by plumbers. I did change two heating elements myself and trying to figure out if I can replace Anode Rod. It looks like you do not have that rod though. Will other Rods fit?
1 Answer Elaine, This part has been discontinued by the manufacturer & is no longer available. No alternate or substitute part has been recommended by the manufacturer. Read More...
Shawn February 06, 2023 for Model Number Whirlpool E1F50RD045V There is a sticker on top of water heater that says “ANODE” next to a plastic plug. I removed the plug and it is filled with foam as are the other 2 plugs on top of the tank. All the videos I have watched have not shown having to dig any foam out to get to the anode, it’s usually just a hex nut on top of the tank. One diagram I found showed multiple locations, one of them being a part of the hot water outlet. I have not been able to find an anode that would work on the hot water side outlet. HELP!
1 Answer Shawn, Remove that insulation and the rod should be located under that foam. There is not a rod for the hot water side and there is only one rod on the unit. Read More...
Frank February 20, 2020 Trying to find anode rod on top of whirlpool water heater. Took plug out and removed styrofoam but can not see the bolt. Can it be out of line with the hole?
1 Answer Frank, the anode rod should have a screw base at the top of the water heater. If the anode rod has eroded and broken off from the base, then the long portion of the rod would have fallen into the tank and would be difficult to retrieve. Read More...
