The Lower Washarm is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool dishwashers. Positioned at the bottom of the dishwasher tub, it rotates during the wash cycle, distributing water and detergent evenly across the lower rack.

Over time, wash arms can become clogged with food debris or mineral deposits, reducing water flow. Physical damage such as cracks or warping can also impede the wash arm's rotation and affect its cleaning performance.

Color: Gray

Symptoms of a faulty lower wash arm include:

  • Inadequate cleaning of dishes on the lower rack
  • Uneven or inconsistent water spray
  • Clogged or obstructed spray nozzles
  • The arm not spinning or rotating correctly

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Lower Washarm (Part Number: OEM18043143)

Marc for Model Number maytag mdb4030awb

Hi, both my washer arms won't rotate. Everything I can find online says there is a clog somewhere and I don't have enough water pressure but motor is good and I seem to have plenty of water pressure. I have disassembled pump/pump housing all the way down and cleaned everything out and can't find any clogs, filter is clean. Both impellers are in good shape. I figure I either need to replace the wash arms or some of the pump housing parts at this point. Any guesses?

Hello Marc. Make sure the water level is high enough. Should be up to the bottom of the heater. If not, replace the water valve. Also, you can clean the spray arms on the unit.

Richard, We here at APP are not aware of an "on going" issue with the WP99001788 lower spray arm. There was an issue, approximately one year ago, but the manufacturer remedied that, almost immediately. Please contact the APP Customer Service Team, with your previous order number and information, so we can get you up and going. Thanks

Hello Mike. Yes, if the filter is dirty, the water does not go back into the sump and it will not spray. You need to clean the filter first. Thanks.

Hello Trina! You will need to make sure that you have the correct amount of water entering the machine. Once filled, the water should be right at or touching the bottom of the heating element. If you do not have the correct amount of water, you will have some sort of filling issue with your valve. Your valve is part number WP99001359. Check this and let us know!
