The Bearing and Tub Seal Kit is an OEM part for Whirlpool washing machines. It includes high-quality bearings and a tub seal designed to ensure smooth operation and prevent water leaks. The bearings allow the tub to spin freely and quietly, while the seal protects the bearings from water and detergent, extending their life and the overall efficiency of the washing machine.

Causes of failure for these components can vary but often include water infiltration that leads to rust and deterioration of the bearings, or wear and tear from heavy or unbalanced loads that put additional stress on the seal and bearings.

Symptoms of a bad bearing and tub seal kit include:

  • Noisy operation, especially during the spin cycle
  • Water leaking from the bottom of the washer
  • The washing machine tub struggling to spin or not spinning at all

This OEM Whirlpool part can also be used on Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore/Sears brand appliances.

For Whirlpool Bearing And Tub Seal Kit (Part Number: OEM15975108)

Barry for Model Number WTW6800WW1

Successfully replaced the bearings & seal. About a week in and so far nice and quiet and no leaks. However we now hear a noise. Could have been there, machine was so noisy before due to utterly destroyed bottom bearing we may have not paid attention. During repair I removed the filter and there were numerous coins (many really chewed up), I thought (though unlikely) that maybe something slipped down into drain when I did that. So after repair, I took it apart again, to remove the tub and checked under the filter and sucked out the drain with a shop vac right on the opening. No luck. So I think it is either (a) something like a coin caught in the drain pump that somehow wouldn't suck out with shop vac, or (b) something got into the tub wall but can't get out (like a small screw, floats up and then bangs around during drain/suction). I wouldn't even care about the noise but fear something is going to get damaged if I don't address it. I'm tempted to pull the drain pump but don't want to bother unless I'm pretty sure. This audio captures the sound, starts at about 10 seconds in. Would appreciate if anybody has heard this same noise and can tell me definitely where I should be looking! https://v.redd.it/i07zjtaptb551/audio

Barry, Listened to the audio and you definitely have something in the drain pump.

I installed a new tub and seal kit. After the installation I now hear two new noises coming from somewhere near the rotor area when the washer is running. First I hear a clunk noise during the wash cycle when the washer/agitator turns back and forth (clockwise-counterclockwise). Second, I hear a clunking noise during the spin cycle. This is a rotational noise. I have removed the rotor and double checked to make sure the four stator bolts are tight and that the shaft nut is tight. I've also checked for cracks in the stator and rotor and they are fine. The noises are loud enough to hear in the next room. What could be making the noise?

Jef, the basket hub assembly W10820039 and driveshaft assembly W10435302 will need to be inspected. If there is a bur or corrosion on the driveshaft, it can cause the spin basket to not seat fully and the hub assembly will skip.

I replaced the bearings and the shaft and tube seal of my Whirlpool washer about a year ago. I don't think I could have completed the job without your awesome video! Everything went back together fine, passed the automatic test, and has been working great for almost a year. Today it started to squeal anytime the tub spins, whether agitating or rinsing. This squeal is different than a year ago. Last year it was a very loud rumble and grease was under the washer, I had no doubt that the seal and bearing had failed. This time it's just a squeal, no grease anywhere. My wife describes the squeal like a squirrel dying. It sounds like a dry seal or bearing to me. Since the bearing isn't greased, but the seal is, I'm leaning toward maybe I didn't put enough grease in the seal. Can I remove the shaft and seal, re-grease the seal and reinstall the shaft and seal or will I need to replace the seal if I remove it, or am I going down the completely wrong path? Thanks for your advice. Your website is the best appliance repair site on the internet, bar none. I've been able to fix my washer, dryer, and fridge thanks to you guys. You've saved me literally thousands of dollars.

Hello David, If the sound you are hearing is a high pitched squeal, it is most likely something in the drain pump. Otherwise, it would be a bearing W10435302 noise.

Red Cow for Model Number WTW6500WW1

I installed a new bearing and tub seal kit. I had to use the jack method shown in your video to remove the basket and it was hard to get off even with the jack. After the installation of the bearing and tub seal kit I reinstalled the basket and went to install the basket hub (and gear) there is about a 3/8 inch gap between the bottom of the hub and the top of the basket. It is as if the basket is sitting too low. If I were to install the six screws into the basket hub I would need to lift up the basket in order for the screws to tighten and therefore the weight of the basket would be on the basket hub. I have triple checked my installation of the bearing and shaft and I think it is correct (I had about 5 or 6 threads showing underneath to attach the 1 1/4 inch nut by the stator). The old and new shaft appear to be identical. Did I damage the basket when I removed it with the jack?

Red Cow, While it is possible that the tub got damaged, double-check the hub to make sure that it is not damaged. The tub would be the most likely cause if the hub is ok.

Robert, This unit will not accept the bearing and tub seal kit W10435302. If the bearings or the tub seal are bad on this unit you will need to get the gearcase W11132267.

Timmel I watched this video twice and I did not see any blue sealant. Only the brown one. You should get two tubes in a package. One with adhesive sealant and another one with grease. Have you received both?
