Jason January 28, 2017 for Model Number GX5FHTXVB01 The problem I have with my whirlpool is: the bottom freezer is cold but the upper refrigerator is warm. I opened it up and found heavy frost on the coil, I replaced thermostat and tested the heater was fine. When I turned it back on, it works normal for about 3-4 weeks. Then the same problem appears. After manual defrost, it works for another 3-4 weeks, then it happens again. During the normal-looking 3-4 weeks, it still defrosts, maybe not completely so that the frost builds up? I wonder if we can and how to increase the defrost time. Thanks

George M February 14, 2016 for Model Number GX5FHDXTQ00 Freezer and refrig at best giving only cool air. Both fans working and compressor gets a little warm after it's on 20 minutes from a turned off for 8 hours state. Both sections started slowly loosing "cold" over a 2 to 3 week period. So I doubt both thermistors failed at the same time. Unless I missed something, this leaves either the Jazz control board OR compressor or it's Freon charge. Any thoughts about which? I have not run the diagnostics on the control board.

Jerry January 17, 2016 for Model Number GB2FHDXWQ02 Refrigerator warm, damper works fine, freezer is cold but evaporator coil frosted up. This is a bottom drawer freezer. Prior to this refig. was freezing food at a normal setting.
1 Answer Hello Jerry. You will need to check and make sure evaporator fan is running. If so, It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the evaporator coils in the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer.
