This genuine OEM replacement part is a burner and gas valve assembly for dryers. The burner and gas valve assembly is a complete assembly that contains the burner that distributes the gas in a way that creates an even flame allowing for heat to be distributed properly to perform the dryer's essential function. If the dryer is no longer drying clothes effectively or heating properly, then it might be time for it to be replaced. Luckily repairing a gas valve assembly is a relatively simple job.To replace the burner and gas valve assembly, begin by shutting off power to the appliance. Next, pull the dryer away from the wall to gain access to the back panel. Remove the back panel and locate the burner and gas valve assembly. Remove the mounting screws that hold it in place. After removing the screws use both hands to pull and release the old burner assembly. Set it off to the side and proceed to install the new one by refastening the screws that hold it in place. This replacement part is compatible with Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Sears/Kenmore brand washers.

For Whirlpool Gas Valve Assembly (Part Number: OEM11565327)

Rocky D for Model Number WGD9400ST0

Gas Dryer will not heat. The Dryer starts and cycles fine. When the coil glows the flame does not light, clicks, then the coil turns off. this happens throughout each cycle. I have changed both coils, thermal fuse, and igniter with same results. I have checked continuity to every plug/fuse where the should be continuity and all have correct continuity. The only thing I haven't changed is the burner-Gas (unless there is something else that i am missing). There was a point when the flame came on after i tapped on the back of the burner with a wrench while cycling and it worked for 2 weeks. It has now stopped working again.

Rocky, With the issue that you are having, this would sound like it would be the gas valve that is sticking and causing the unit to not light.

Hello Danny, You will need to mix a solution to locate the leak with bubbles. The solution is one teaspoon of liquid soap to one quart of water. It is important not to add more liquid soap that this since it will not work if too much liquid soap is in the water.

Hello Elaine, The most common cause of a no heat situation is the thermal fuse WP3392519. If this is the case, look for an issue with the home ducting. If not, the next suspect will be the ignitor 279311.

I have a Whirlpool Duet gas dryer that won't dry clothes. Cleaned out the exhaust tube & inside of unit. Wasn't that bad due to previous cleaning on yearly basis for efficiency purposes. I have gone thru the diagnostic test on the board & it shows no error codes. I've checked the thermal fuse & thermistor & gas coil & those readings are as they should be. Glow coil comes on & ignites gas but flame shuts off after a few seconds & the process begins again. It has a blue flame but doesn't appear overly robust. Looking for ideas!

Richard, You may want to recheck the vent system and hood, make sure there aren't any kinks or clogs, or the hood isn't crushed or blocked. Remove the front tumbler support and remove any lint that has built up in the duct, under the filter and any debris in the blower wheel and housing. If all's OK, chances are you have a weak set of gas valve coils. Run the dryer for 15 or 20 minutes, then test the coils for proper resistance readings, coils will check OK when "cold" but you'll see the resistance change once the gas valve has cycled a few times, if they're weak.

Jim, We would have to agree with you, it does sound like an internal failure in the gas valve 280119. As long as the igniter cycles on and off, That tells you the igniter and the flame sensor are operable and working. With a new set of coils installed, the failure would be internal, a chamber plunger isn't lifting to allow the gas to flow through the valve. The gas valve assembly 280119 is available from the manufacturer as a complete assembly only.

Hello Heather, You will need to open the unit and test the thermostats and thermal cutout for an issue. If none are located, it is possible on this design for the problem to be in the motor or the control board. You should pull the tech sheet for part locations and resistances, if applicable.

Dave for Model Number MODEL GGW9250PW0

At the start of the cycle the igniter glows and the gas ignites. The gas shuts off after the temp is reached. After a few minutes the igniter glows again, but the gas does not ignite and the igniter turns off. There is a very rapid clicking noise when this cycle occurs. The process of igniter glowing and gas never coming on continues with the noise each time the igniter comes on. I have replaced the gas valve coiles with no change. I did have to replace the thermal fuse about 6 months ago. Any idea what I need to do?

1 Answer

Dave, Based on the information it would appear that the igniter may be weak and not getting hot enough on the next tries to ignite the unit. The igniter would need to be replaced for this issue.

Hello John, The first question that has to be answered is: Has the unit ever been converted to LP. These units come from the factory set up for natural gas. The issue you are describing sounds like the unit is hooked up to LP but is still set up for natural gas. If the unit has never been changed over, you will need to order the conversion kit W11581317. If it has been changed over, the gas valve probably has an issue.
