Tonna September 06, 2016 for Model Number WTW5500XW0 I have done all the diagnostics and it is pointing to a water valve issue. However, it fills with water on both hot and cold and I am getting a burning smell when it goes into the spin cycle and shuts off. At that time the lid lock light blinks and the sensing light blinks. I shut it off and the lid light keeps blinking. I have unplugged it and done the drain/spin cycle and it does fine. It just will not go through the spin cycle while doing a regular load. I did not get the burning smell when I did the drain/spin cycle like I do when it tries to go through the complete wash cycle. I am very confused. The motor also felt hot after it went through the regular cycle and got to the spin cycle, it does drain. It does not feel hot or smell when I do the drain/spin setting. Please help, I need my washer!!!
1 Answer Tonna, This issue would most likely be caused by a control board issue if it will drain and spin on that setting but will not during the regular cycle. Read More...

Patty July 15, 2016 for Model Number WTW4800XQ1 Washer wont agitate took the tub out and had lot of debris around shaft... will start to agitate if given a boost by turning the drive pullie thinking it has something holding it from turning????
1 Answer Patty, You'll want to check the belt drive pulley and cam to see if the pulley is loose, and the "teeth" and the spring on the cam pulleys are damaged or distorted. If all's ok, then check the shift actuator WPW10006355, make sure there's no loose wires and the shift lever is properly seated in the linkage. The shift actuator determines which way the gears will turn to make the washer agitate or spin, so that's most likely where the problem is. Read More...
Jennifer May 10, 2016 for Model Number WTW4800XQ1 The washer is now louder than before during the spin cycle. It's not terribly loud but is quite a bit louder than it used to be. It is the same sound it always made but just louder now. It is not a screeching or "airplane" noise. It also works normally. The nut is tight on the bottom pulley. Belt looks fine.
1 Answer Hello Jennifer. It sounds like the bearings are bad and will need to be replaced in the unit. Read More...
Tracy April 17, 2016 for Model Number MVWC450XW3 Why won't my washer spin out. Everything else is working fine just will not spin.
1 Answer Tracy, You will want to access the tech sheet from the control panel of your unit and put the unit into the diagnostics and see if there are any stored error codes. With the unit doing everything except spinning then the most common cause would be the shift actuator that is faulty. The part number is WPW10006355. Read More...
Priscilla April 17, 2016 for Model Number WTW4800XQ2 When the washer on spin it makes a very loud noise and takes a long time to finish not sure if the snoring is out
1 Answer Hello Priscilla, If the noise is a high pitched sound it is most likely something in the drain pump WPW10276397. If it sounds like a freight train you will need to replace the gearcase W11454741. Read More...
Parriss March 13, 2016 for Model Number wtw4800xq0 The washing cycle is just fine and works properly. Halfway through the spinning cycle my machine starts to knock so hard that it sounds like an earthquake it does complete the spin cycle regardless, but I normally can't take the knocking so I stop the cycle. I have checked the suspension springs and when one did fall off and I fixed it and it still continues to knock any suggestions???
1 Answer Parriss, Check the pulley at the bottom of the unit to make sure that it is not loose. Also try to readjust the clothes and make sure that they are not off balance. Check to make sure that the balance ring on the inner tub is not damaged and make sure that it still has solution in it. Read More...
Dan February 12, 2016 for Model Number wtw4850xq0 Washer runs fine but when cycle is done clothes are still wet and have replaced belt and water pump on this machine. need help on what other parts could cause this problem.thanks for your help.
1 Answer Dan, You will want to make sure that the unit is not getting off balance and the suspension which could cause the issue. Also check to make sure that there is nothing clogged in the drain hoses that would cause a slow drain. The last thing would be a shift actuator that is not engaging properly. Read More...
Robert January 20, 2016 for Model Number WTW4850XQ1 Whirlpool washer Model WTW4850XQ1 making loud grinding noise during wash cycle. Took drive cover off & tightened bolt but still making noise. Looks like gears on pulley not matching up with gears on cam but grazing over the top of each other causing noise. What's the fix?
1 Answer Hello Robert. You will need to check and see if the cam kit W10721967 needs to be replaced or if the gear box W11454741 is bad on the unit. Read More...
Cletus August 21, 2015 Whirlpool model WTW4800XQ0 Loud gear grinding sound when it tries to stop spinning after rinse cycle, very prolonged, sounds like the splutch. When this fails, "lid locked" flashes repeatedly and the machine will not work until it has been unplugged/replugged several times. Will a bad splutch cause the flashing lid lock light? Examined the splutch, it has some wear but not heavily worn. After unplugging/replugging several times, the machine will go through several washes with no problem, then it happens again.
1 Answer Hello Cletus. Make sure the cam kit is good. If so, it sounds like the gear box W11454741 is going to need to be replaced. Read More...
