This motor control board is created for use with washing machines. It's located inside the washing machine, where users can change settings and start or stop the appliance. It is tasked with regulating how quickly the washer spins during a cycle. Wear and tear or damage can cause the motor control board to malfunction. This may make it impossible for the washer to agitate or spin. If this happens, a replacement will need to be made.To replace this part, start by unplugging the appliance. Once the area is safe, the bottom front panel should be removed. This will provide access to the original motor control board. Pull on the motor control board until the wires can be reached. The position of these components should be noted before taking out the part. Replace with a new motor control board and replace the wires. This motor control board is designed to fit washing machines made by Maytag, Whirlpool, Kenmore, and KitchenAid. This is an authentic OEM replacement part that is sourced directly from the manufacturer. It's sold as a single part.

Dave, With the motor not turning then most likely the MCU is faulty and would need to be replaced.

My washer keeps coming up with f06 and stops functioning. I reseated all connectors on CCU, MCU, motor, and all other misc. Connectors with no good results. From what I read it points to a motor speed error. The motor works fine and spins fine but it continues to come up with f06 . It happens at different times in the cycle and its always different. Please let me know which board or part sounds like the most probable cause. I am pretty sure I can not return part if it does not work. I can not afford to guess but if I had to guess I would pick main control board.

1 Answer

Jim, The most likely cause of the unit coming up with the error code F06 would be a faulty Motor control Unit.

Hello Ross. Communication between the Central Control Unit (CCU) and the Motor Control Unit (MCU) cannot be sent correctly. Possible Causes / Procedure 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Check wire harness connections to the MCU, the motor, and Central Control Unit (CCU). 3. Check the drive system for any worn or failed components. 4. Plug in washer or reconnect power. 5. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any cycle. 6. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor. 7. Check the drive motor for powered rotations. 8. Check that the serial harness at the MCU is not mounted upside down. The wires should be to the left when facing the MCU connectors.

Kyle for Model Number GHW9100L

I have a Whirlpool Duet front load wash machine. After holding the start button, it will lock and just sit there. All lights look like it is ready to work but timer doesn't change. I ran the diagnostics and got F33 indicating a pump problem I think. I ohmed out the pump and it was Ok but the main pump cavity where the shaft goes into is full of rancid water. This is not normal, right? Also, the impeller has a great deal of play. Do I need a new pump? Thanks, in advance.

1 Answer

Hello Kyle. No, that is not normal and it sounds like the pump needs to be replaced on the unit.

Larry, A electrical circuit board can be burnt by a power surge or possibly a bad wire harness connection, a bad motor for this board or possibly just went bad.

Hello Brian777, You cannot check the MCU with an ohm meter. You can ohm out the wiring harness and run the diagnostic check, which is what we recommend to do. The tech sheet should be located in the base of the unit. This will walk you through the procedure. If the unit gives a fault code for a communications error, unplug and tighten up the connections to the boards one at a time.

Hello Michael. The control is unable to properly detect motor speed and the machine will shut down. If a failure occurs during high-speed spin, the door will be unlocked after three minutes. 1. Verify the shipping system including shipping bolts, spacers and cables are removed. 2. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 3. Check wire harness connections between the drive motor and the Motor Control Unit (MCU), and between the MCU and the Central Control Unit (CCU). 4. Plug in washer or reconnect power. 5. Check the MCU by looking for operations of the drive motor. 6. Check the drive motor for powered rotations.

Hello Craig. No power to the motor, and there is power to the MCU, replace the MCU in the unit.

Hello Angela. Check and see if the valve is bad and is not letting in water and is just humming. If so, you will need to order and replace the water valve on the unit.
