Causes of a bad ice level control board can include electrical issues such as power surges, wear and tear over time, or damage from moisture or debris.

Symptoms of a bad ice level control board include:

  • The ice maker not producing ice
  • Continuous ice production even when the bin is full
  • Error codes related to the ice maker
  • Irregular or inconsistent ice production

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Ice Level Control Board (Part Number: OEM18080208)

Steve for Model Number 10651133210

Icemaker not making ice. Water dispenser works fine. Water line to freezer is not frozen. Icemaker optic board light is not on at all. Not sure if on this model it is supposed to stay on all the time or not? I put it in diagnosis model and in test 15 it says "Bin is full" even though bin is empty. In water test mode, no water comes inside icemaker. Wires at bottom of the door checked out okay too. Will it be caused by a faulty icemaker emitter or receiver or icemaker itself? Thanks.

1 Answer

Steve, as the bin is not full and the test procedure is indicating that it is, the failure would be in the receiver control W11813704.

Stephen for Model Number GSF26C4EXB02

Whirlpool Refrigerator Model GSF26C4EXB02 is 10 years old. No prior repairs. My ice maker stopped working. Refrigerator water filter replaced December 2021. Ice maker water filler tube not frozen. No water is being dispensed in the ice maker tray. The tray is dry. No ice maker jams. Water pressure 60 psi. Water flowing through copper ice maker line. No kinks in the water supply line. When I looked into the ice bin, I discovered the red LED emitter light was not on. Unplugged power for 20 seconds. Reconnected power. LED red emitter lights for about 30 seconds and the light turns off. Still, no ice being made. Does no light indicate a defective emitter board or receiving board? Any other diagnostic tips. Thank you

1 Answer

Hello Stephen, Press in the freezer door switch. When in the harvest mode, the Status LED will flash once every second. If the icemaker WPW10251076 is stuck in the harvest mode, it will need to be replaced.

Jules, The in door ice boards are probably not reading the ice levels. We are sending you a tech sheet for testing the ice level sensors.

Jen, This unit has an emitter board and receiver board on it. You will want to check to see if the light on the emitter is flashing and then glowing solid when the flap is pushed. If it continues to flash then either the emitter or receiver is faulty and would need to be replaced. There should be a service diagnostic mode on the tech sheet to determine which is the issue.

Hello Bob, On this model the optic light is only lit for about 30 seconds when the refrigerator is first powered up afterwards it is not lit. The tech sheet for testing is located under the refrigerator behind the front bottom grill. It includes testing the optics. Also check the freezer door wiring harness for any problems where it comes out at the bottom hinge.

I have a kfis29bbmsoo that developed a leak near the filter area, and found a crack in the elbow that comes out of the filter housing. I bypassed the filter with clear tubing, and all seemed well. Water dispenser worked as usual I had a PF warning when I came back about 5 hrs later, but no other appliances were affected. Since that time the door control panel has had issues, and the ice dispenser and water dispenser do not work. I get a short term flash when I try to set the temp, and the option buttons do not work. I changed out the control panel, and the new one acts exactly the same as the old one. I also checked continuity on the door switches, and they are fine. Any Ideas? Main control?

1 Answer

Ron, the most likely issue is going to be the main control [W10581605] which can be tested. A reference manual will be sent to you to help with testing. However, the main control is unfortunately discontinued and no longer available.

Robert, No light would inidicate a faulty emitter board on this unit. The board that would cause this would be the emitter board receiver W11813704.

Clayton S for Model Number wsf26c3ew01

The ice dispenser is not working. The ice maker does work & also water dispenser. The main freezer door switch is good, I checked it out with a OHM meter. The electronic control board #[w10518659] that attaches to plastic flapper door & shuts when ice bin is in place , so ice dispenser & motor/auger should power up & turn when you place drinking glass to dispense ice, but doesn't. I checked the 3 wire connections with flapper door shut & I have no continuality. I do not see any mechanical piece that moves when flapper door is closed or open by spring tension. Is there a part broken or missing ? Will a new Electronic Control Board fix my problem? Is there another switch or part to check? Also the flapper is working when I place glass for ice to dispense ! Thanks !!!

1 Answer

Clayton, If the flapper is opening but the auger motor is not turning on then you will want to check to see if the auger motor is getting 120 vac to it when the dispenser is pressed. if it does then the motor is bad and if it does not then check the main control board on the unit as being a possible cause.
