Ljenkins February 21, 2015 I just ordered the control panel but didn't see your helpful Q & A when I ordered it. I can't switch from ice to water and when I push water button I get two vertical lines next to the freezer temperature and one next to the refrigerator temperature. I also can't adjust temperature up, only down. Do you think I need the overlay as well as the control panel?
1 Answer Ijenkins, No, we don't expect you to need the dispenser overlay / keypad assembly. Your description indicates the issue is in the control board. Read More...
Jerry January 13, 2015 for Model Number GI5FSAXVB00 It wont switch from ice to water and when you push the water/ice button's. All the light flash on/off when you release the button. Would it be the overlay or the board I'd need to replace?
1 Answer Hello Jerry. It sounds like the overlay W10860143 is the part that needs to be replaced on the unit. Read More...
Antonio August 16, 2014 for Model Number GI5FSAXVY02 My touch panel isn't working. It won't switch from water to ice and The button to change the temperature of the refrigerator does not work.
1 Answer Hello Antonio, This sounds like a combination of the L.V. board WPW10162500 and the dispenser keyboard W10740218. Of course you should check the wiring at the door hinge first in case there are any broken or naked wires causing issues. The main board could be involved so you should check output voltages before ordering parts. You will need to test for 12Vdc from terminal J6 pin 2 to J6 pin 3. Read More...
D. Carter July 26, 2014 for Model Number GI5FVAXVQ01 The control panel powers off. I can unplug it at the top of the door and reconnect and it works for several hours before powering down again. Do you think it is the connection or panel? My career was in the computer industry and I am aware that this type of connector is not the most reliable type available. Unplugging the frig and reconnecting does not reset the panel. If I order a panel how do I remove the old one?
1 Answer D. Carter, This issue sounds like it would be in the connection at the top of the door. Unfortunately this will require the door to be replaced. The door part number is 13107847WQ. Read More...
Steve H March 18, 2014 for Model Number Whirlpool refrigerator GI5FSAXVY02 Unit will not dispense ice or allow you to lower the temperature. It is still making ice and dispenses water, but will not switch to dispense ice. I replaced the control board W10162500, but problem still exists. I don't believe it the overlay...any idea what it could be? Thanks
1 Answer Steve, The overlay is not just a overlay but is a membrane switch that allows you to select options. This would be the cause of the unit not switching to dispense ice or adjust the temp. The part number you would need is W10740218 Read More...
Catherine January 01, 2014 for Model Number GI5SVAXL00 My touch panel isn't working. It won't switch from water to ice. When I hit the ice button other led lights light up. I think it is a panel issue because the ice maker itself works.
1 Answer Catherine, You will want to check the control panel to ensure that the control is not in lockout mode. If it is then push and hold the lock button for 3-5 seconds to unlock. If it is not locked then the dispenser control or keypad would need to be replaced. Read More...
Raphael H October 21, 2013 for Model Number GI5FVAXVB00 Hi, I have this refrigerator which doesn't stop cooling down. The temperature is set but it just keeps going; a technician from Sears took a look at it and he said the problem is the "temperature control board". Is this the same part? Thanks in advance for your help.
Mikail October 18, 2013 for Model Number gi5fsaxvy00 Front display was not working and unit was not cooling. Replaced the Hv Control board W10310240 and reprogrammed it. Unit now functions properly except for no ice in icemaker and water and ice dispenser beep when I press the lever. The light comes on and off when the door switch is depressed. All function on the front panel appear to work. Do I need to replace W10162500 next?
1 Answer Mikail, With the dispenser lever not working then the most likely the issue will be caused by the chute WP13005706. Read More...
Edna August 08, 2013 for Model Number GI5FSAXVY01 We replaced the control-electric W10162500. I previously sent a question, which we took care of, it was shutting off because the cooling on/off needed reset. The keyboard still has the original problems. The ice dispenser works but will not switch to water. The temperature switches will go lower but not higher. Is the next step replacing the overlay? Thank you.
Edna August 08, 2013 for Model Number GI5FSAXVY01 We replaced the main control board. The panel did light up, but did not work. My husband tried to program the board, now the display does not light up and the refrigerator does not work.
1 Answer Hello Edna, This control has to be programmed with the program code found on the units' I.D. tag. Follow these directions for the Programming Mode: NOTE: The Program Code is located on the Serial Plate on this unit after the word Code. 1. Press and hold the Door Alarm Keypad Door Alarm. 2. Press and hold Freezer Temperature Down Keypad. 3. Release the Door Alarm Keypad Door Alarm and wait 3 seconds. 4. The control will display PE to indicate the programming mode. 5. Entry is confirmed by pressing the Freezer Temperature Down Keypad once more. 6. The control will display the current Program CODE. This value should be validated with the Program CODE printed on the unit serial plate. NOTE: If the Program CODE is correct, the Programming Mode is exited by pressing Door Alarm Keypad for 3 seconds. 7. Press the Refrigerator Temperature Up Keypad or Refrigerator Down Keypad to change the digit value with each key press. 8. The decimal point indicates the selected digit. Press the Freezer Temperature Up Keypad to select the next digit. 9. Once the desired Program CODE is entered, press and hold the Freezer Temperature Down Keypad until the Program CODE begins flashing indicating it has been saved. NOTE: If you attempt to enter an invalid Program CODE the control will not save the new code, but will beep. (The unit will NOT run with a Program CODE of 0000).Once the Program CODE has been saved the Programming Mode is exited by pressing any key. If the new code is incorrect this process should be repeated. The Programming mode can be exited at any time by pressing Door Alarm key for 3 seconds or will exit if unattended for four minutes.
