Tony September 09, 2012 for Model Number Whirlpool gi5fvaxvl01 Hi, I also have a 2010 Whirlpool Gold bottom door frig.I cannot turn off the lock feature which prohibits me from using any of the controls. When i hold it for the 3 seconds all that happens is it beeps, the light turns on and off, the ice dispenser door opens then closes. Any suggestions before I buy a new control module.
1 Answer Tony, You may want to have the Keypad assembly on hand as well W10882878 . At this point it's a 50/50 chance it's the board or touchpad, and there is no touchpad matrix information from the manufacturer. Thanks Read More...
Randy M. August 24, 2012 for Model Number GI5FSAXVY02 Hello, I have a refrigerator with key failure on the touchpad. It is a 2010 stainless steel Whirlpool with bottom mount freezer and dispenser. The touch pad keys are not working in three functions: #1- The water dispenser key will not activate when pushed. #2- The refrigerator temperature control arrow up key will not increase the temperature, but will lower the temperature. #3- The dispenser light key doesn't function when pushed. Checking which part may be required for these malfunctions? Thanks, Randy
1 Answer Hello Randy, This will either be the connection at the ribbon cable, the overlay W10740218, or the electronic control WPW10162500. The first thing you need to do is remove the control panel and un-plug the ribbon cable. Now using the eraser of a regular pencil on the traces, only rub the traces in the direction the traces run. This prevents damage to the traces because if you're not careful the traces will peel off of the plastic and the overlay will have to be replaced anyway. If this doesn't correct the issue, I would first replace the overlay since it is the most probable cause of the complaint and it is the cheaper of the two parts. If that doesn't do it, the electronic control is the next most probable cause. Read More...
Troy S August 02, 2012 for Model Number GI5SVAXVBOO Refridge part is freezing items, I have replaced the sensor in the fridge part, but still unable to control temp. Should I replace the damper and motor assy(AP4309055)?
1 Answer Hello Troy. Cycle the unit off and then back on and see if the damper opens and closes. If so, the damper is fine and you need to replace the control. If not, the damper is bad and will need to be replaced in the unit. Read More...
Steve March 11, 2012 for Model Number gi5fsaxvy01 My ice dispensor was just putting out water, and the temperature setting on the refridgerator would raise but not lower. A technician replaced the overlay and key pad. The ice maker is now working but the temperature setting onthe unit still wont lower. Could you give me any of your thoughts?
1 Answer Hello Steve. The first thing I would do is unplug the unit for 10 minutes and see if this resets the microprocessor on the control to factory default. If that doesn't do it, I would replace the control WPW10162500. I hope you found this helpful and have a great day! Read More...
Howard January 07, 2012 for Model Number GI5FVAXVL01 Hi! Thank you for answering my question. Concerning removal of the dispenser facade, I have removed the two screws, but the panel feels too tight to simply remove. Am I just being overly cautious? I have posted the original answer to my first question which follows. Thank you in advance for your time and help. "Hi Howard. Remove the spill catcher below the cup area. Then remove the 2- bottom screws at the euschestation cover. Un hook the live elect. connectors and on the back you will see the control panel. Part # AP4369768. Thank You"
1 Answer Hi Howard. Once you removed the screws below the spill catcher, then you lift up and out on the cover assy. part # WPW10168725. It may be need to persuaded with a putty knife. You may need to use painters tape all along the door cover to protect it first. Thank You. Read More...
