Larry October 04, 2016 for Model Number GI5FSAXVY02 Two nights ago the control display blinked on and off several times then stopped working as did the compressor. Whenever I would press a button on the control panel everything would light up but would go off as soon as I released the button. When the water/ice dispenser is pressed a continuous beep sounds. All the lights inside the fridge work. This morning for a brief moment I noticed the display of freezer and fridge temp blink on and off, but nothing after. I unplugged the fridge for 5 min. to see if it may reset, but it did nothing. Is there any more I can do to troubleshoot?
Cody S July 15, 2016 for Model Number GI5FSAXVY02 Last night the control display stopped working as did the compressor. Whenever I would press a button on the control panel everything would light up but would go off as soon as I released the button. I did some research and thought that it was just the display board that needed to be replaced. I bought a new one this morning and swapped it out, but that did no fix the problem. Any other suggestions? Thanks in advance.
1 Answer Hello Cody. You will need to check and see if the main control board is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Matt May 26, 2016 for Model Number GI5SVAXVL01 Hello, this is a "new to me" model that is 3 years old. when I press the temp + button there is often no response but the temp - button works fine. I am also unable to easily switch between ice and water dispensing. If I single press then long press the temp + button it will sometimes go up and then work as expected with + - working with single presses. I am experiencing the same with water selection in that a single press followed by oong press with switch it and then the button will function on single presses. However, this sewuence only works intermittently and almost seems to need a cool down period between uses before it will function normally again. Any idea on what the issue may be?
Bryan February 11, 2016 My whirlpool fridge model number GI5FVAXVQ00, through the door dispenser won't switch from ice to water and I can lower the temp but not increase it(total of three buttons not functioning). Ice maker and dispenser still working properly, checked water suppy, bypassed water filter. What part should I order?
1 Answer Brian, The most likely cause for the keypad to not work would be a faulty keypad which is part number W10882877. Read More...
Ryan January 26, 2016 for Model Number Whirlpool Gold GI5FVAXVB02 Our temperature control panel is not working. The lights inside the refrigerator still work and when I touch the panel it lights up with all digits 8s. Pressing for water or ice emits a high pitched squeak. I am assuming the board (W10162500) needs to be replaced, but wonder if other problems are afoot. Thanks
1 Answer Hello Ryan, This is most likely the H.V. Control Board WPW10310240. There is a possibility that the issue is the L.V. Board WPW10162500 but it is not as likely since it gets its' power from the High Voltage Control Board. Read More...
Josh December 02, 2015 for Model Number GI5FSAXV02 The door display that shows temperature and the buttons associated with the ice and water are not functioning. They do not light up at all. The fridge is not cooling. The interior lights on the fridge are working. I'm thinking it is the display board and possibly the control overlay? Thoughts?
1 Answer Hello Josh. You need to see if there is power to the dispenser board. If not, you will need to order and replace the HV board WPW10310240 on the unit. Read More...

Stephanie August 29, 2015 for Model Number GI5SVAXVL01 The Dispenser Keyboard is not fully working on my refrigerator, and we are getting ready to order a replacement, along with a control board. I am also having trouble with ice in the bottom of the freezer and water in the floor which I understand is likely coming from the drain plug being clogged with ice. My question - does the control board "control" the defrost cycles of the freezer also? I ask because I know that you can force a defrost cycle from the dispenser keyboard. Thanks!
1 Answer Stephanie, Yes, the main control board will control the defrost cycle of the unit. For the issue with the drain being clogged you will want to get part number W10619951 which is for the issue that you are having with the ice on the floor in the freezer. Read More...
Taylor July 31, 2015 for Model Number Gi5svaxvloo My ice and water will not dispense, the ice maker still makes ice. I've replaced the switches, and the water filter and still nothing will dispense. The panel still lights up, I can change temperature, and push other buttons and they work. But no water or ice cubes will dispense. Any ideas?
1 Answer Taylor, With the dispenser not working and the switches having already been replaced, this issue would most likely be caused by a faulty main control board WPW10310240. Read More...
Michael July 24, 2015 for Model Number gi5fvaxyy-ss Hello, I noticed that the temperature displays are not lit. However when any button is pressed on the control panel air beeps and all the lights on the control panel illuminate. Also the fridge and freezer seems to have stopped cooling.
1 Answer Hello Michael. It sounds like the main board WPW10312695 may be bad on the unit. You will need to check the main board. If it is good, then the dispenser board W10740218 will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3.
