This replacement part is an electronic control board. It is manufactured by Whirlpool and is responsible for monitoring and controlling the functions in a refrigerator. It ensures that the compressor turns on at the appropriate time, handles freezer defrosting, and much more. It can be damaged by exposure to moisture and extreme temperatures. If the control board has failed, the refrigerator most likely will not operate at all. In some cases, users may notice intermittent operation, but the board should still be replaced as soon as possible. To replace the board, first unplug the refrigerator. Always wear gloves when servicing the refrigerator. This is a genuine OEM part and it is sold individually. It fits Whirlpool, Kenmore, Amana, and Roper branded refrigerators.

Steve, If you are needing the control board that is in the refrigerator compartment then you would simply remove the control light lens and thew will be a couple screws holding the control housing in place that you would remove to access the board. If you are needing either of the other 2 boards simply pull the unit out and remove the lower cover and they will be by where the compressor is located.

Gary for Model Number KSCS25FTSS00

For about a month, the refrigerator has been making a clicking sound and a faint chirp with the fan cycling on and off every couple of seconds. The sound is coming from the bottom of the refrigerator. So far, the freezer and fridge are maintaining correct temperatures. A technician diagnosed the problem as a failing main control board located at the bottom of this side-by-side KitchenAid refrigerator. The technician said that the control board was no longer available. I contacted Whirlpool and they confirmed that the original main control board was out of production but said the Electronic Control Board Service Kit W10823803 could be used. When I searched your website for my model number, part number WP2307037 is displayed as the Electronic Control Board replacement. Which part should I use?

1 Answer

Gary, If the manufacturer states that the W10823803 board will work for your unit then this would be what you would want to use.

Jim, the defrost thermostat should be attached to the copper part of the evaporator, it has a pink and brown wire running to it, if the coils are iced up, you have a defrost problem. Check the thermostat for continuity, it should read closed, if it checks ok, then replace the control

Hello Rafaek, This does sound like a control board issue. Since the board is so much more expensive than the temperature sensor, We would recommend testing it and replacing it first if the reading is out of tolerance, (about 1100 ohms at about 70°F).
