David May 24, 2016 for Model Number NED4600YQ0 How do you check the Hi-Limit Thermostat to see if it is faulty?
1 Answer Hello David. If it is good, it should read closed for continuity. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Bill April 17, 2016 for Model Number admiral aed4475tq1 I have heat on low and high heat timed dry but no heat on auto dry. Vent and intakes are clear. Blower working. Not sure which direction I should go.
1 Answer Bill, The most likely cause for the unit to not have heat in the autodry cycle would be a faulty contact in the timer. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Joe. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. T October 04, 2015 for Model Number 11066872501 I have a situation similar to the question asked earlier by Arthur. There is no wire connected on the lower left side of the high limit thermostat. I do not see any loose wires. My dryer stopped mid-cycle and will not start again. It has power. It felt hotter than usual inside. A couple of weeks ago it stopped in mid cycle, but started up again when I pushed the start button. Now when I push the start button it makes a slow clicking sound.
1 Answer Hello T. One end slides onto the heater terminal and the other end has a wire for it. Read More...
Richard B. May 03, 2015 for Model Number RED4340SQ1 Dryer runs but does not heat and timer does not cycle.
1 Answer Hello Richard, This will be caused by either a bad heating element 279838, a wiring harness issue, or a bad centrifugal switch in the motor 279827. Read More...
Faye April 16, 2015 for Model Number LER5620KQ1 My dryer is cutting off before the cycle is done. When I open the door it is very hot inside. I was told it is a safety feature to keep it from overheating. What would cause the dryer to overheat? What would I need to replace to correct this issue?
1 Answer Faye, In any case where the unit is taking longer to dry or overheating, the first thing to check would be the dryer venting from the blower wheel of the unit all the way to the outside of the home. The venting getting clogged would cause this issue. If the venting checks ok then the cycling thermostat would be the most likely cause for failure. Read More...
David March 23, 2015 for Model Number kenmore series 80 model C66822694 Type I80-00 I have replaced the thermostat about 3 times in the last 9 months. Does not appear to be any visual damage to the heating element. The dryer runs hot and can be hot to touch. Inside the dryer where the heat comes in can be hot at times when the dryer has not run. As this is consistently creating a fire hazard and I am not versed with knowledge of electric circuits. Any ideas or recommendations.
1 Answer Hello David. It sounds like the cycling thermostat on the unit may be bad and need to be replaced. Also, make sure the vent is clean and no clogs or kinks. Read More...
Arthur February 26, 2015 for Model Number Roper rek2950kq1 My electric dryer cycles for short periods of time: on-off: 40-70, 27-72, 30-80 all in seconds. My hi-limit thermo has only the top wire connected to it. There is no wire connected on the lower left side (other end of thermo). There is also a red wire connected to the heater element block (?) under the hi-limit thermo - on the right side. Can you tell me how to connect the missing wire or email me a wiring diagram?
1 Answer Arthur, The red wire that comes down from the timer will connect to the thermal fuse. There will be a jumper wire that goes from the thermal fuse to the high limit thermostat. Either the high limit will be connected direct to the heater block or there will be a jumper that goes from the high limit to the heater block. Read More...
Larry Hill December 27, 2014 for Model Number Maytag Dryer MEDC200WD Dryer will not run at all. There is power to the controller. Will the dryer still run (tumble) if the thermal fuse is blown, or does that only affect the heater element? Is there an overload on the motor itself? Planning to buy a thermal overload fuse but only if needed.
1 Answer Larry, The thermal fuse being blown would cause this issue. The unit will not run at all but you will also want to check the door switch to make sure that it is not bad. Read More...
Kyle December 15, 2014 for Model Number kenmore 500 gas dryer When I use the auto dry the dryer heats up well after a few mins of drying the flame shuts off but the dryer continues to tumble. Any advice?
1 Answer Hello Kyle. If it only does it on Auto dry, replace the timer. If it does it on timed as well, replace the gas valve coils. Read More...
