The Detergent Dispenser Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers, designed to store and release detergent and rinse aid at the appropriate times during the wash cycle. This component ensures that your dishes are cleaned efficiently by dispensing the correct amount of detergent for optimal washing performance.

Causes of a malfunctioning dispenser can include mechanical failure of the latch or spring mechanism, clogging due to detergent buildup, or electrical issues preventing the dispenser from operating correctly.

Symptoms of a bad Detergent Dispenser Assembly include:

  • Detergent not being dispensed correctly, leading to poorly cleaned dishes.
  • The dispenser door not opening during the cycle or failing to latch properly before starting.
  • Leakage of detergent from the dispenser, indicating a seal failure.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Chris, You will want to check to see what voltage is coming to the solenoid on the detergent dispenser. If you are getting more than more than 120 vac then you would have a bad control board.

Hello Karl, you will need to replace the dispenser assembly WPW10224428 as the manufacturer does not provide the door on the dispenser. You will need to disconnect the power to the unit. Remove the screws securing the inner door panel then, raise the inner door panel and remove the screws securing the dispenser to the door panel. Remove the old dispenser and install the new dispenser in reverse order. Hope this helps and thanks!
