The Detergent Dispenser Assembly is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers, designed to store and release detergent and rinse aid at the appropriate times during the wash cycle. This component ensures that your dishes are cleaned efficiently by dispensing the correct amount of detergent for optimal washing performance.

Causes of a malfunctioning dispenser can include mechanical failure of the latch or spring mechanism, clogging due to detergent buildup, or electrical issues preventing the dispenser from operating correctly.

Symptoms of a bad Detergent Dispenser Assembly include:

  • Detergent not being dispensed correctly, leading to poorly cleaned dishes.
  • The dispenser door not opening during the cycle or failing to latch properly before starting.
  • Leakage of detergent from the dispenser, indicating a seal failure.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Jim for Model Number Kitchenaid Model kudi01ilwh6

I purchased the soap dispenser for my Kitchenaid Model KUDI01ILWH6 dishwasher, and I cannot get the outer metal panel off. I removed all of the torx screws connecting the metal panel, and when it did not come off, I removed the remaining screw to the control panel to see what might be going on. None of the edges of the metal panel are attached (I can pry down to get about 1/2 inch clearance on the sides), but it seem to be firmly attached somehow at the center of the panel. Is there a trick to removing the front panel, like sliding in one direction or another?

Jim, Here's the information we have. : " Removing the Dispenser Assembly The Dispenser Assembly is located in the lower portion of the dishwasher door below the console area. 1. Remove the eight (8) screws securing the outer door panel to the dishwasher door frame. Remove the outer door panel from the door frame. 2. Remove the center top hex head screw and remove the dispenser shield and disconnect the wiring harness connectors from the detergent dispenser solenoid and rinse aid sensor. 3. Remove the remaining five (5) screws securing the dispenser assembly to the inner door liner. 4. Bend the two locking tabs at the top and bottom of the dispenser assembly up away from the dispenser body. 5. The dispenser assembly can now be lifted from the inner door liner." Thanks

Candis for Model Number DU1055XTSQ3

RE: detergent latch. I noticed the detergent door would not stay shut without a good amount of pressure. The gay open tab comes off and freely movable. Has the gasket on it. There is also a white attachment part that appears to hook on the inside of the assembly somehow (as well as hooks into the gray latch mechanism). Neither appear broken. I just wonder how the white plastic attachment part came out of the assembly from the inside of the detergent assembly. Any suggestions and easy way I can try to fix this myself? I would appreciate it.

Candis, Did you check the area around the latch assembly for a build up of undisolved detergent ? If there is any issue with the latch linkage or actuator linkage, causing the door to not locl or unlock, you will need to replace the complete detergent/rinse aid dispenser WPW10224428. It is a "sealed" unit, and there are no individual repair parts available from the manufacturer. Good Luck and Thanks
