Juan March 12, 2016 for Model Number MLE2000AYW I am having trouble attaching the cable that secures the boot. When I pull the spring to secure the cable, the boot slips off. I I've tried at least 20 times and I can't secure cable. Is there another way?
1 Answer Juan, It is a cumbersome task but when you install the spring around the boot it is imperative to make sure that you are holding one side while working the other side around. There is no real trick to it. Read More...
Brian S. February 23, 2016 for Model Number MLE20000AYW. I replaced the door boot seal on my Maytag Washer/Dryer unit. I ran it and it leaked all over the floor. I ran the washer again and watched it to see if I could find out when it was leaking. It fills with water, but then starts to shake violently when the wash cycle starts. It sounds like an unbalanced load on the spin cycle. Even when the tub is full of water it doesn't leak so it may have been coming through the door when it was shaking. I tried taking all of the clothes out and running the cycle again, but it just makes the usual whirring sound and then stops. It never completes a cycle. Is there something I might have done to unbalance the tub during the boot seal repair, and if so how do I fix it?
1 Answer Brian, Changing out the door boot seal would not cause the unit to get off balance. You will want to check the shocks on the unit to ensure that the tub bounces back up when you push down it. The other thing that could possibly be an issue would be a broken tub support on the rear of the inner tub. Read More...
Tom P January 10, 2016 for Model Number MLE2000AYW Someone asked a question about having to remove the dryer to get to the spring holding the boot seal in place. Your answer was no, the seal can be removed from the front of the washer. Can you explain how that is done? Any info would be appreciated. It is a Maytag Neptune, Model MLE20000AYW.
1 Answer Hello Tom. If you need to get to the rear spring, you will need to remove the door from the washer. Then remove the front panel screws on the opposite side of the door hinges. Now you can flex and remove the front panel by pulling it toward you. Once removed, you can remove the shroud and remove the spring. Read More...

Rivka August 27, 2015 for Model Number MAH4000AWW Does my model# come with the drain at the bottom of the seal? (Why is it that you pull the plug out of the bottom of the seal unless maybe some washers don't have a drain?) I can't feel a hole in the bottom of my current seal. There's always water in there.
1 Answer Hello Rivka. Yes, there is a drain on the bottom. Most likely the small black tube is clogged. You will need to clean it out when you replace the door boot. Read More...
Dan August 13, 2015 for Model Number Maytag MLE2000AYW I need to replace the boot on my Maytag MLE2000AYW stacked washer. Do I need to "unstack" the dryer to access the top of the washer to release the spring and free the boot cable? Thanks

Anthony February 23, 2015 for Model Number MAH5500BWW My Maytag Neptune was working fine, but the door boot seal was heavily black molded. I ordered & installed the replacement boot seal. Reconnecting the wire & spring was difficult, but after many tries with my wife's help, I was able to get it reconnected (the cable fits nicely on the groves all around), and reassembled other components back. We ran our first load of laundry, and it is leaking under the machine. The machine is in a tray, so we were able to stop the machine in time before it spill on the floor. Did I do something wrong with the installation? I followed your video step-by-step. Please advise. Thank you.
1 Answer Hello Anthony, You should remove the front panel and verify where the leak is originating. If it is coming from the door boot, the spring and cable will have to be properly positioned. If not, you should be able to tell where the leak is coming from and correct that. Read More...
