Len September 10, 2016 Maytag dryer keeps on heating and only shuts off after timer stops dryer cycle. What needs to be replaced?
1 Answer Len, A model number would be a great help. But, the problem is most likely a shorted wire in the heater circuit (most likely the heater element) energizing the heater element as long as the motor is running completing the 220 VAC circuit, or a shorted contact in the timer. Read More...
Joe September 05, 2016 for Model Number maytag medc200xw My dryer runs and dries good for 10 to 12 minutes then shuts off will start again after a few minutes.
1 Answer Joe, This issue sounds like there may be some drag on the motor causing it to overheat and then allow it to run again once it has cooled down. you will want to check the unit to make sure that there is not lint build up around the motor. Also check to make sure that the rollers are rolling properly and that there is nothing caught in the blower wheel that could cause drag on the motor. Read More...
David August 19, 2016 for Model Number EED4300SQ0 I replaced the Heating Element back in June. Last week it wasn't heating, so I ordered the dryer thermal cutoff kit and replaced it. Still no heat. So I took the element back and had it tested and it works fine. So what else is there?
1 Answer David, There are 2 components other than the thermostats which would cause the heating element not to work. First is the motor and second the timer. The best option is to disconnect the power to the unit and access the heating element. Disconnect one wire that is going to the heating element, preferably the one on the thermostat side. Plug the unit back up and using a multimeter you will want to turn the dryer on and test for 120 vac at the terminal on the heater where the wire was disconnected. What this will do is eliminate the heater element itself and the motor. If there is 120 vac at this point then you know the heater is good and the motor is good because the other 120 vac coming through the thermostats is the timer side of the circuit. If there is not 120 vac at that point then you will want to test the other terminal on the heater and check for 120 vac. If there is not 120 vac then the motor would be bad . Read More...
Karla August 16, 2016 I just bought the thermal cuttoff kit that your website said was compatible with my maytag dryer. However, the maytag dryer does not have the orange wire that is attached in the video and the directions on the thermostat so now what do I do?
Simon August 10, 2016 Hi - I purchased this thermal cutoff kit but lost the male/female combination terminal that came with it..can I order this separately so that I can complete the repair? Thanks.
1 Answer Hello Simon. The male female combination is only offered in the kit. However, you should be able to find the part your needing at a local electrical store. Otherwise, you will need another kit. Read More...
Stacye August 03, 2016 I have replaced the heating coils, but now when I dry clothes on a sensing setting the dryer cuts off to fast would this be a sensing error and replacing this could possibly fix it? Thanks Stacye
1 Answer Hello stacye. It sounds like the cycling thermostat is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Keith M July 30, 2016 for Model Number LEQ8000JQ3 OK, our dryer has stopped completely. We have replaced the door switch without a positive result. I have checked the thermal cut off fuse and found it to have continuity. I have checked the power to unit and confirmed 240 Volts. Is there anything else to check before we call the repair person?
1 Answer Keith, With unit not starting at all you would want to check to see if the motor is getting 120 vac to it when the start switch is pushed. If there is power to the motor but it will not turn on would be a issue with the motor. If there is no power then check the start switch and if this checks ok then the timer would be the issue. 1 Answer Hello Charlie. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater and thermostats and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Ere July 02, 2016 for Model Number Whirlpool 279827 Cabrio dryer Our dryer started to go in reverse is it possible to change the polarity to correct this?
1 Answer Hello Ere, The only way this can happen is if the belt has been twisted. Reversing the polarity will have no effect on an ac motor. Read More...
