Lowell June 28, 2013 I had a potato water boil over on a kenmore gas ignition range..now it no longer lights ..duh! Gas comes out but will not light. No click so i,m guessing I need a new ignitor?!?! thanks lowell
1 Answer Lowell, You will want to take the control panel off the gas valves and check the ignition switch to make sure that the switches have continuity. When you turn on the valve, check across the leads of the switches with the switches in the on position and check for continuity. If any of them have no continuity then replace the switches. If these check ok then you will need to check the electrodes for damage. Also check for continuity of the igniters. Read More...
Justin March 26, 2013 for Model Number SF367LEKB2 Hello, I need to replace a broken burner igniter on a whirlpool SF367LEKB2 gas range. How do I get the top off? I read some of the other questions but I cant find any latches to release to be able to remove the top. How do I remove the top? thanks Justin
1 Answer Justin, To replace the ignitors on unit you will first turn off gas and electric to unit. Remove the grates and burner caps from top. Remove the burner base off the top, they may be held in by screws. remove the mounting screws from each of the four burners. Lift the front of the cooktop and unsnap it from the 2 clips that are located on the side about 2 inches back between main top and side panels. and prop cooktop up. Read More...
Dave January 25, 2013 for Model Number MGR6772BDS I got some water down onto the igniter switch (the second knob from the front of the stove) it kept shutting off the breaker. I order and installed an igniter switch and now all burners continually keep clicking. If I try to light the right front burner it won't light. I looked at the burner igniter and the bottom is cracked off and missing. Also need to mention I thought I was going to originally have to remove the burners so I soaked them in penetrating oil. I tried to avoid getting the oil on the burner igniters! Where do i go from here?
1 Answer Hello Dave, You will want to test the ignitor switches by checking for continuity. With switch in off position there will be no continuity across switch. If there is then the switch is bad. If they check good then you will want to check wiring to make sure that there are no broken or damaged wires. If they check good then you would need to replace spark module. If the ignitor is broken at the bottom this would cause the burner to no operate and you would need to replace the burner. Read More...
Kris November 12, 2012 for Model Number GS445LEMS3 Front left burner does not burn. Ignitor makes ticking noise, but fire seems to go away from the burner. Tried to clean the burner, worked for few times, but, problem came back. What seems to be the problem. Other three are working fine. How to open the ignitor? Thanks in advance.
1 Answer Hi. Remove the burner grates. Remove the inner burner mount screws and lay them aside specifically in order with the burner. Use a putty knife to reach into the front sides and release the lt. and rt. clips holding the top down. Use the prop rod to hold the top up that is under the top assy. Release the igniter wire center holding tab and remove the wire from the igniter part # 8523793. Remove the inner burner -igniter mount screw and replace the igniter. After cleaning the burner, make sure all the horizontal holes are cleared with a straight pin. So the drafts will not blow out a weak flame. Make sure the burner caps are all cleaned back off with a small, soft brass wire brush where the igniter spark point is on the bottom side of the cap. The burner is part # WP4455981. Make sure the orifice is clear. If they are then replace the burner valve part # WP9757218. Thank You. Read More...

1 Answer Hello Ed. Make sure the spark switches are good on the unit. If so, it sounds like the spark module 74009098 is bad and will need to be replaced in the unit. Read More...
Nicky B. August 27, 2012 for Model Number mgr6775adw I think I am missing wires going to the valve on the top burners that spark the igniter. This stove was in the house when I bought the house. Does this model require them? model # mgr6775adw thanks Nicky
Mike August 20, 2012 for Model Number mgr6772bdb One stove top ignitor not working. If I turn another one on, all the ignitors work and I can turn the bad one on and it will lite. But if I just turn the one burner on, gas comes through but it does not ignite. What do I need to fix and how do I get to that burner since it does not come out???
1 Answer Mike, You'll need to remove the cooktop and check for a damaged igniter switch [AP4008846and wiring to the switch. Check to make, sure there are no loose connections on the wires to the igniters. Then you'll need to move the range out of the cabinet and check the spark module 8215557 and wiring, located on the back of the range. We'll be sending you some additional information. Thomas June 22, 2012 for Model Number MGC5430BDS I have one burner that will not ignite. The gas flows, but there is no clicking or ignition. Is my problem the electrode or the spark module?
1 Answer Hello Thomas, The problem sounds like the start switch WP74007696 on the gas valve. The only way I could change my mind is if the other ignitors spark when that valve is turned on. Then I would have to say it's the ignitor WP8523793 or wiring to it. Read More...
Adam October 27, 2011 for Model Number jdr8895aas I need to replace 2 electrodes. I see that the entire orifice holder is less and comes with the electrode but the electrode if bought seperately cost more? Or is the price for a quantity of 4?
1 Answer Hello Adam! The orifice holders does include the spark electrode. The electrode WP8523793 when purchased separately comes one per package. Thanks. Read More...
